Eric Fennekohl Remodeling LLC

I have known Eric Fennekohl for some time through his brother with whom I am good friends. I myself am vey handy and used to do cabinetry for a living. Over time Eric and I had many conversations about tools and construction. WHen I bought a house it was a pretty shrt list in my mind who I would hire to replace the rotting wooden porch with a medium sized deck. Eric was the first that I called and although between his busy schedule and mine when we got together to discuss the project I knew I wanted to hire him for the job. As with any project I had my ideas on the subject and they were based around a newer better version of what was there. Eric surprised me by really walking around the yard and thinking about where the sun's path was and the architectural lines of the house. He had a different suggestion about where to put the steps on the deck and the more we disscussed it, the more I liked his idea. Several more conversations a few 3d renderings courtesy Google Sketchup later and the plan was in place.

Flash forward to construction. Eric supervised the lumber delivered to an unobtrusive part of the yard, laid out the vertical posts and brought in concrete guys to pour the slab underneath which I had opted for. Over the week and a half the deck took to build if I wasnt home late from work I would find Eric and his crew still at work. I was impressed by how he presented my options for minor details.
I was more impressed with the things he simply did based on his own intuition. Apparently part of his process is to pause and step back at certain key points and decide what truly looks proportional. One evening he walks me out on the deck and with evident pride says and quot;Watch this!and quot; as he jumps up and stomps down with both feet. Completely solid. The stairs ended up the same way and the railings are as he stated and quot;Bulletproofand quot;. This is really all credible to Eric's choice in sizing the lumber.

Like I said I'm a handy guy, and with that comes the temptation of wanting to and thinking that I could do that project for myself, provided I make the time. Sure I could have built my own deck, But I couldnt have built this deck. And isnt that what we all hope for when deciding major and digging deep in the pocket. Eric wowed me with work outside my home and when it comes time for the much needed kitchen remodel that will involve real sructural work on my home, Eric's who I'm going to hire.

The attention to detail was amazing.
