"When I read this review I was confused because no client has contacted us regarding any unresolved issues with a door install. I looked through our client records and was able to find the client in question. In 2016 we field hung a homeowner provided exterior door slab in an existing front door jamb. The door was properly fitted and prepped on site for a homeowner provided lock set and deadbolt. Our company was doing the install through the lumberyard where the homeowner purchased the door and hardware. We invoiced $800 for this work. The existing wood jamb had some wood rot at the sill so we removed an area of the jamb and replaced it with a Dutchman made with Spanish Cedar. The client was invoiced $100 for this additional work. We were paid for the work and haven’t been contacted since regarding any issues or complaints since the door was installed in 2016. In 2018 the client sent me an email with a quote request for additional work at his house. I unintentionally neglected to respond to this quote request. This was a mistake on my part. Nowhere in the email for the quote request was any mention of the door whatsoever. I recently contacted the client after seeing the review online. I asked him why he took the time in 2022 six and a half years later to disparage my company by writing bad reviews on two online platforms rather than try to contact me. I asked him if there were any current issues with the door that needed to be fixed and if we could find a solution to the problem. He was upset that I called his review dishonest and asked me not to contact him again. If the client had contacted me at any time during the last six years regarding an issue with an installation we performed I would have gladly made repairs but I was never given that opportunity. The teams who came out were friendly, professional and kept the dust and mess to a minimum. The work was completed on-budget and when promised.
First, Dave came out and provided an estimate. Although it was not the cheapest estimate we received, we just had a good feeling about working with him. He was very responsive and detailed in his estimate, while others kind of half-assed it. His price came in the middle between a well-known local contracting company and another general contractor.
About a week after we agreed to go with Dave and his team, they got started with the demo of our old kitchen. Dave brought in a structural engineer to assess how much of the walls between our kitchen/dining/living rooms could be removed (luckily, all of them were able to go). After the walls and old linoleum flooring were out (I believe he said there were multiple layers of flooring), Dave and his electrical team roughed in the electric for the new kitchen arrangements, and then his flooring team toothed in hardwood to match the rest of the house. The flooring team let me choose multiple stain colors to sample on my floor to see how they looked so that I could choose the one that looked best in the lighting. Then they stained and sealed the floors. Then, the electrical team came back and installed all of the lighting (recessed lighting in ceiling on a dimmer, under cabinet lighting, and pendant lighting above the new island) and outlets.
For our cabinets, Dave referred us to Larry Miller at National Lumber, who was also very pleasant to work with. We chose our cabinets and as soon as they arrived, Dave and Tommy installed them. As soon as they were in, the counters and plumbing were installed. We were out of town while they were finishing up the plumbing, which was the last part of the job. When we got back, we were very pleased to see how clean they left everything and that everything looked so great.
I would definitely consider calling Dave for future projects (you should, too)!
We decided to have the drop ceiling, existing cabinets, lighting, and layers of previous flooring all removed and replaced, and a new counter-height opening created between the kitchen and the dining room. We replaced all the appliances except the refrigerator (and most importantly, added a dishwasher). This represented a major renovation in a small space in a narrow rowhouse without a driveway, so there were challenges, to say the least.
Dave and his whole team were professional, cheerful experts who consulted with us on decisions, answered all of our questions, and did excellent, exacting work. While the necessary noise and dust of a renovation is always a headache, the experience of working with Diggian Renovation was a pleasure. Even our neighbors were impressed with their thorough site clean-up and polite and friendly attitudes.
Our kitchen has been transformed visually and turned into a place that you actually want to be. The opening up of the wall into the dining room created additional countertop area with seating on the dining-room side that has joined the two rooms in a way that allows for casual dining and entertainment possibilities. Sometimes we just sit there and admire it!
Actual price is $28k for kitchen renovation. Not included; lighting and appliances and cabinets and backsplash.
We had them replace windows and siding on the front of the house, above a wrap-around porch on an 1880 Queen Anne Victorian home in Hampden (Baltimore City). It's a unique home in the neighborhood and in a prominent location, so it was very important to us to honor its character and history.
The existing windows were literally falling apart and some of the framework had rotted. The existing siding consisted of two layers of material – the original crumbling wood clapboard plus a layer of painted asbestos shingles. The asbestos shingles were removed by an abatement company and then Dave, Tim and Tommy went to work.
We ultimately completed the project in two phases due to a tough decision we made to change material mid-project. Dave was completely accommodating and professional despite the scheduling disruption.
Throughout the project, they were on-time, neat, courteous, and happy to work with us on the approach and materials.
We can't wait to have them back to start on the next step on our renovation.
