Our job is to get in there and then get out, Last year over 70% of our moves came from either repeat customers or were referrals. It's our solid reputation that has built our business.. Really cannot say enough positive things about Charm City Movers. From the first contact several months before the scheduled move all the way until the payment was processed, everyone at the company was responsive, polite, and eager to assist.
This is not a traditional moving company that charges by the hour; rather, they charge based on the exact items to be moved. Given my busy scheduled, almost all communication was via email and that in no way impacted the level of service I received. I cannot remember exactly how many emails were exchanged trying to finalize the list of items to be moved, but every message was promptly responded to and quotes adjusted accordingly.
On moving day the three man crew arrived on schedule and really earned their money. While being only one person, I didn't have a massive amount of items I did have several awkward pieces and a lot of books. These guys didn't miss a beat. They were fast, efficient, organized, and took every reasonable precaution they could to ensure that all of my things, large and small, got from one place to the other in one piece. I do not think they took any breaks, except for the 20 minute drive between locations. All in all they were in and out in less than 4 hours.
Strongly recommend this company, and I will use them again if I'm ever foolish enough to move another time.

Quinton and his crew went above and beyond. I grossly underestimated the contents and while more than willing to pay for what I missed, I realize it put their schedule off quite a bit. They worked non-stop from early morning through late afternoon and got our very heavy and bulky furniture out with ease. These guys are superstars. The entire process from estimating to moving was much easier thanks to them. Highly recommend them!!

It was great from beginning to end. Charm City did the move into the original location 2 years ago, so we were repeat customers. The number of items was limited and Felix priced accordingly. I got an estimate from another company which estimated by weight and I could tell that it was way off. Chris called the day before to review everything and Felix called as the move was progressing so that she could check on things.
This move required two stops including coming down from Baltimore County to AA County. The entire move from beginning to end was done in 2 hours including travel time. It was done perfectly. The 4 guys were wonderful. They were careful with the furniture and could not have been more polite.

The people both in the office and the guys who did the actual moving were all very nice. They priced my move several times when I changed what I'd be taking. I chose Charm City because they would give me a firm price rather than a per hour price. In retrospect that may not have been the best idea. The men all moved very, very fast to get everything moved and when it was over almost every piece of furniture had some kind of dent or ding in it. One night stand had deep scratches/gouges in the top. They offered to send someone out but I could tell it was beyond repair. Several boxes were stacked upside down ruining things that were packed inside. The person I spoke with in the office disparaged my furniture because some of it came from IKEA. Idon?t believe she meant to be rude but she was basically saying it wasn?t good furniture to begin with. They did not move one wall unit saying it wouldn?t fit out the door so I had to have it moved later. Perhaps a company who charged by the hour would have been slower and therefore there would have been less damage. I?m sorry things turned out the way they did because everyone was really very nice.

"Thanks so much for taking the time for your review. We value all input from our customers, both positive and negative, as we use this as a teaching tool for all of us here. We spoke with this customer, who was very nice as well, after her move and we were told there was a gouge on her nightstand. We asked her to send us a picture so we could forward it to our furniture repair specialist. This way he could determine if he could repair on site or bring it to his shop. When he viewed the picture, he determined he could do it on site easily on site. He made attempts to schedule the repair but never got a call back. Sometimes, damages seem to be un repairable, but believe me, they can come out perfectly. I have seen our restorationist preform miracles with wood! It may have been an oversight, but there were no other damages mentioned. We will be happy to address them so please reach out to us. Please forgive me if it seemed I was making disparaging remarks about IKEA furniture. I always tell our customers that IKEA is a type of furniture that does not move very well. It is not real wood and is put together with pegs that are not instructed to be glued in. There is a risk with IKEA or prefabricated wood, as when the truck moves down the road it will shimmy. This shimming will make a piece sway back and forth. This motion MAY collapse a piece of prefabricated furniture. The men on this move had combined moving experience of 32 years. The wall unit was a large Expedite and was assembled in the house. In order to get it out, it required dissassembly. We would have been happy to do that, but reassembling IKEA Expedites is a very time consuming process and can get expensive. Please don't feel like you can't call us to repair. We will be more than happy to do so!"

Hiring Charm City Movers was an excellent decision! We booked months in advance and scheduled a move for Christmas weekend. Felix was incredibly responsive via email and kept in contact leading up to our move.
The morning of our move, Quentin and his team cleared our apartment and got us moved into our new place incredibly fast, handling all of our items with care. We will definitely consider the company for all future moves and recommend your company to friends and family.

I had the best experience with Charm City Movers yesterday! First of all, I love that their quoted price is all inclusive?no time limit, no mileage limit, no weight limit, etc. It?s all up front (which was NOT the case for many of the other seemingly ?cheap? quotes I got from other companies). Felix and Chris (the owners) were responsive, helpful, and friendly throughout the whole process. They went through my inventory with me twice verbally, which was very time consuming. Mark and Quinton showed up, walked in, and got to work moving our stuff out right away. Do them a favor by being ready to go, because these guys are machines. They waste no time. They were incredibly professional, and very careful with our things. We have a lot of antiques, and both guys went out of their way to protect our belongings. They pointed out pre-existing damage to me, and asked questions about nuances of moving certain things if they weren?t sure. I really appreciated this extra step. They also never dragged anything across the wood floors of our rental apartment?they actually lifted everything. It took a little longer to load the truck because they had to walk down a long hall and wait for our building?s freight elevator, but it was truly amazing to watch them in action at our new house where they could park next to the door and carry things straight in. They had the whole truck unloaded in 1.5-2 hours. Mark and Quinton were also incredibly pleasant as people. Felix called during the move to make sure everything was going alright. My contacts with the entire company have been enjoyable, and all of our things arrived undamaged and I feel were handled with great care. I was shocked at how cheap they were on top of this great service. HIGHLY recommend!

They moved all of our furniture in a professional manner. We were able to move a lot of boxes ourselves and this saved a lot of money. It ended up taking 18 hours for the move and they had to assemble and reassemble several items that they didn't factor in the estimate to fit in the new house. They stuck by the final quote and didn't charge us any extra. The guys who moved us were great. They were wonderful and Id use them again in a heartbeat.

No issues, the estimate was done over the phone 3 weeks in advance. It was a long walkthrough of my home as I described each piece of furniture I needed to move. While not on-site, it was almost as good as it was very thorough and it did not require me to have to be home at a set appointment.
Moving Out
The team showed up on time, walked through the house with me reviewing the furniture to compare to my estimate and take pictures of pre-existing problems with the furniture and point it out to me so I knew what had issues prior to avoid any possible troubles later. I appreciated this openness. The move out took approximately 3 hours which was an hour short of the estimate so that was nice.
Stuck without my stuff
At this point (by no fault of Charm City movers) my settlements had to be moved as the people buy my prior home had paperwork issues. I had no home and no stuff as it was all on the truck. Yet when I called Charm City, Felix answered and was so friendly to me and told me they would hold my stuff at the default rate per night they were already scheduled to hold it with no extra penalties. This ended up being an extra 4 days because of the paperwork issues. Each day I would call and tell Felix the news that today was not the day and she was so kind and friendly as she totally understood the poor situation I was stuck in. Finally 4 days after my original move in date my settlements were completed and I scheduled Charm City to come the next day with my stuff.

I was moving into a condo in Baltimore City and even with having to deal with an elevator and long hallway the crew had my items off the truck in just over two hours. Much faster than I expected.
Verifying my furniture
In the end everything was good with no new issues. Only 1 lampshade had an issue and the crew openly pointed it out to me and apologized. While annoying I did not mind too much as I never really liked that lamp much (haha!)
Overall Charm City Movers were great. Felix is super duper friendly and a kind soul who I will never forget how nice she was to a stranger like me who was having some of the most stressful and anxiety filled days of his life.

The Short version: The whole process was probably the smoothest part of buying a new house and moving.
Longer Version: Charm City Movers was an amazing company to work with. Every person we spoke with at the company was professional and very helpful. We dealt mainly with Felix, but also spoke with Tammy and I believe Chris.
Felix worked with me to get a quote that wouldn't end up changing on moving day. Many of the other companies I looked into came in at a lower cost, but they were not a flat rate. So, who knows what their final costs would be. The way Felix explained their pricing made me feel comfortable in my decision to use them. She worked through the quote with me as well made adjustments as went through the packing process.
Throughout the whole process Charm City movers kept the communication lines open. They were late both for move and out move in. I state this NOT to point out something bad, but to point out something POSITIVE. Their truck broke down the morning of our move out, but Felix was on the phone letting me know of the problem and their solution right away. The same went for the moving in. The movers were late due another job causing delays and taking longer than expected. Again, Felix kept the lines of communication open. In fact, I was even texted as well as receiving a voice message as to not interrupt our closing. Again, I stress pointing out the lateness isn't to be taken as a bad thing. Things will happen, but Charm City Movers kept us in the loop instead of hiding behind excuses!!! (This is why they still received an "A" above under punctuality)
Finally, I must comment on the movers themselves. Our team was amazing! They were efficient, courteous, and very patient. Both move in and move out were done in about 2 hours!!! Don't let the short time fool you, our things were handled with care.
Overall, we would recommend Charm City Movers without hesitation. Not working by the hour allows for them to be more efficient as well as not nickel and dime the customers.

in loading and unloading, and were careful with items. I like that

From the first phone call, I was impressed with their professionalism and responsiveness. We had a short timeline for the move and they were able to fit us in. The gentlemen who showed up were very respectful of our furniture and very polite. I liked that the price was based on the number and type of items being moved. That being said, however, the truck they brought was too small, so a number of items on the list were not taken - leaving us to move them ourselves or arrange another move date. I would , probably use them again but would emphasize that everything needs to be taken. We are still working on getting the last of the items from our old house.
