CAVALIER TELEPHONE

We are generally happy with Cavalier's service - it works, which is what you want with Internet and phone. We were in the middle of renovating our row house when we started service with them. They came to check on everything on time, but our house lacked a jack at the demarcation point. They just hooked their tester up directly to the wires, and everything works, but it is usually nice to have the demarcation jack that they assure should provide a dial tone. We went with Cavalier because they allow web servers and assign static IP addresses. However, we noticed that if we weren't browsing other sites from home, our web site would go down. It seems that if you aren't sending out requests from a line for a few minutes, they drop incoming requests. This was solved by me running a script that pings Google every minute, but it is a bit irritating that I had to do that. Overall, though, it is cheap service and you can run your own web server.

Overall, Cavalier service is as good as, or better, than others in the Baltimore market area. That is to say, it is not perfect; but none of them are. Cavalier IS responsive, however, and works hard to maintain quality service. They succeed mostly.
