It went really well. They've been consistent and responsive over the years. I've since recommended B&H to other friends with historic houses. A couple times the sweep has been running a little late but either he or their office assistant has always called to let me know. They helped me figure out what needed to be done to get the fireplace and chimney up to code and working safely. This included, grinding out and repointing the fireplace, rebuilding the bishops cap, repointing parts of the chimney and installing a liner. I've since had them help me source and install a wood-stove for my kitchen fireplace and they also perform routine sweeps on all my chimneys and my dryer vents.

WOW, THIS COMPANY STINKS!!! It is run by two incompetent idiots that misrepresent themselves as knowing chimney repair and maintenance. They ground out my chimney's mortar joints, didn't fill them in and denied they ground them out in the first place. WHAT A DISASTER!!!

They did a wonderful job, as always. They are the only people I have used for chimney work, and will continue to use them as needed in the future. Tim had been to my house to do a sweep, and inspected the chimney for any issues. He recommended the mortar repair, as there were signs of aging including cracked mortar joints. I held off for awhile before booking the repairs. Then in the winter, I noticed signs of leakage around my chimney, inside the house. The diagnosis was that it was due to the cracked mortar (my roof is practically brand new, and in good shape). Lesson learned: do not ignore the chimney repairs!

Tim came to the house and wrapped the chimney in a tarp, which prevented water intrusion until the repairs could be done. The job spanned 3 days due to the intervals needed for the tasks, and it was completed last week. The chimney looks brand new. The photos taken show a very smooth finish to the mortar, clean bricks (no more algae or other crud on them), and the job is overall very professionally done.

B&H does awesome work, and they are friendly and professional always.

Plainly a very thorough job.  I also need a new back wall in my pre-fab fireplace, which I already knew.  They will do that at what I believe is a reasonable price: $350 installed.  Did not try to oversell me or scare me.  Provided an inspection report.  Definitely will use them for the next sweep.

Difficult mid roof location for chimney required a cherry picker parked on my front lawn. Removed crumbling stucco and crown, applied lathe and  two coats of stucco to match texture on the rest of  the house. The house is a historic area so requirements

were stringent. I was very pleased with the results.

It went great. They were originally hired to perform a chimney sweep but after examining the chimney the technician determined that a sweep was not necessay. He instead performed a complete inspection which costs less than a sweep. He could have easily swept the chimney and charge accordingly but did not. A honest company. We were very pleased with the entire service call.

They did an excellent job, were on time, and took pictures of the inspection and results. Afterward they sent pictures and full report to my email address. Well done!

We used Band H to do an inspection of the property before we bought it. They did a nice job and while we thought they were expensive they clearly knew their stuff.
We had stainless steel caps fabricated and installed by another firm at about half the price Band H quoted, along with a replacement crown to protect the chimneys while we decided what we were going to do.
A year went by, we decided to move forward and because the work is technically complex, we called Band H back out.
The job was theirs to lose and they lost it. I am sure that their work would have been outstanding, but they tried to sell my wife on replacing the crown that had just been replaced because they stated it was cracked. I got home from work - went up on the roof and inspected the crown -no cracks.
I don't mind paying for quality work, I do object to firms padding their jobs with unnecessary elements.

While this last visit was merely to clean our chimney, we have used Band H in the past for repairs needed to ensure the safe operation of our fireplace. They arrived on time, performed the work quickly and efficiently, and charged what they said they would. We've been using them for going on 5 years now without any complaints. They have my highest recommendation.

Band H personnel were prompt, efficient, clean, courteous and professional. They provided digital photos documenting their findings as they performed the chimney inspection. They provided an instant digital report and receipt. They also answered questions and gave useful advice. Highly recommended.

My wife and I suffered some furnace problems over the summer. The most likely cause seemed to be leaks from the chimney down through the flue into the furnace. I called Band H Chimneys to have our furnace and fireplace chimneys and fireplace inspected. Tim came out on a Saturday -- which was great, because it meant I could be home -- and inspected everything. He found a number of problems that needed fixing, including re-pointing much of the brickwork, installing a liner, and a handful of other repairs. He had taken photographs with his phone of every problem he found, showing what the issue was, and we talked through how bad each was, and what would be done to fix them.
Tim also walked through the prioritization of the issues with us. He noted that our chimney was still structurally sound; we were not at risk of it falling down or dropping bricks into our driveway, so we had some time to space the work out over a couple years if we needed. In the end, we decided to get everything taken care of at once.
Tim, Anna, Justin did the work. They were very friendly and professional the entire time they were here. (The repairs took approximately one week to complete.) They did a fantastic job of cleaning up after themselves. There's no trace of dust from all the grinding out of cement. They were even great about accommodating some contractors coming through for an emergency repair or two that we needed during the time Band H Chimneys was working.
The firebox looks great since the work was done, as does the visible part of the work done on the chimney. We've had a couple rains since the work was done, and so far, there's no evidence of any leak down into the chimney or furnace flue. Many thanks to Band H Chimneys -- I'll definitely be calling them again for any similar work in future.

Tim provided the inspection, and has been my main point of contact throughout. He explained all of the areas he examined, what to look for, what was deficient and why. He was professional, cheerful and thorough. I never felt pressured to do everything on the list. I received a complete written report before he left, including diagrams, written detail of the work recommended, and photos of the areas inspected.
I opted for the exterior work only, and did not choose to replace the flue lining (as I do not plan to create fires at this time). While the work I chose to have done was less costly, I was not made to feel like I was and quot;less of a customerand quot;: I was given a date when the work could be done, and they did it all on schedule. I received a call when they were coming to the house, and when they were leaving (as I was at work). They provided photos of the completed work. The brick that was cracked was removed and replaced with a good one, which to me was remarkable especially since the brick was half-way down the chimney. I think most people would have just put some sort of sealer in the crack.
Overall, they do a professional, thorough job, are honest, and very pleasant. Everyone I spoke with, either in-person or on the phone, was great.

As usual, we received excellent service from Tim. We started using Band H Chimneys several years ago after our previous sweeps started and quot;inspectingand quot; the upper part of the chimney visually from the ground. We have a 2 story home with a tall, steep roof, but Tim climbs the ladder! He has made recommendations for additional work, but is not pushy and informed us that we have a few years before the work becomes a necessity. Recommend without reservation.

Tim was a bit late but called to notify us prior to the appointment. As a result, I had to run an errand during the time he arrived. Since I wasn't home when he arrived, Tim had to wait 30 minutes or so.
When I returned, Tim was pleasant and got to work right away. Upon completion, he provided photos and recommendations on problem areas that we may want to address in the future along with estimates for each item.
I will definitely use them again.

B+H Chimneys was very pleasant to work with. I had contacted a couple of other chimney service companies before discovering B+H, and they were either very expensive (e.g., they wanted to charge a lot of money to set up scaffolding, which seemed overkill for the job) or were high pressure (e.g., calling and emailing multiple times to follow up and insist that if we did not also opt for waterproofing the brick chimney in addition to repairing the crown, that the entire chimney would crumble by next year).
In contrast, when B+H came out, they inspected our chimney, took photos of it, and patiently answered our questions. We received by email, from their office, a professional price quote which included the photos. We took some time to decide, but when we got back in touch with the office to schedule the job, we were treated professionally and politely. The day of the job, Tim came to our door, let us know he would complete the job, and he did so in a timely manner. He also took before and after photos to show us exactly what he did. We were happy with the neatness and quality of his work. The repair did not require anything complicated, and we appreciated that he did not push unnecessary repairs or services. Afterwards, the office sent us by email the paid invoice along with the before and after photos.

I have used Band H several times for annual inspection and updates to existing chimney. Tim always does a wonderful job. He is very professional, does excellent work and educates me on issues and options. The prices are reasonable. They cleanup after each project. I have an older home and Tim helps me plan and prioritize future projects.
