Over Christmas and New Year, he built the large cabinet per my architect's specifications, while I was out of the country. He began installation upon my return, and did the ceiling at the same time since the cabinet went to the ceiling and the two had to meet. I am thrilled with the work, there were no issues at all. I did have a water leak due to the bathroom shower above leaking and Glen did all he could to work with the tile guy and investigate the problem. I decided to have some new lighting installed around the ceiling panels, since the old lighting didn't line up and looked odd with the new ceiling, and Glen just adjusted his schedule with no problem to work with the electrician.
Glen is professional, tidy, shows up when he says he will and is accurate in his estimates. He is not cheap but he does truly excellent work. I love my cabinetry and my ceiling. Every little detail has been considered and carefully made. Note that he did the entire construction right next to my open plan kitchen and *still* managed to keep all the dust inside his own work zone. If you've had any reno work done on your home, you know that's kind of amazing.
The job was to gut and remodel my builder-grade master bathroom in a brand-new house. My builder refused to make any changes and I hated what they were doing, so I resolved to rebuild it afterward. I had a few contractors lined up but one flaked out, the other wanted $12,000 more than I was usually quoted, and finally there was Glenn. He knew a good plumber, a good electrician and a good tile man, each of whom I paid separately from the number listed above. Total job cost was probably $21,000 for the labor, only slightly above average from the estimate I was hearing from the average contractor, and far below the high quote (that was $30K). I bought all new fixtures, plumbing, a tub and shower, marble elements, a heated floor, towel warmer, vanity and light fixtures for a sumptuous master bath. It looks beautifully finished now, and very expensive. Most of the pieces were custom-made and it was not immediately apparent how best to install them, meaning that the crew had to read the instruction sheets (gasp). And they did read them without hesitation! We had some slow-downs because suppliers were delayed even further out than originally estimated, but the crew didn't desert me and came back ASAP when all the elements were finally present for installation. Everything is working well and I know if it is not, for any reason, Glenn will stand behind his work. He is an experienced professional and so are all of his crew. You won't be sorry if you hire him. I am grateful I did!
My wife wanted the crown molding to go from cabinet to flush with the ceiling. At one spot in the center, the ceiling bowed down about 1/2and quot; -- Glenn trimmed the molding so perfectly that no one even knows there was an issue unless I point it out to them carefully. The crown molding joins had typical corners and also 45degree corners. The joins are perfect -- no visible gaps anywhere.
The alignment of the base cabinets was perfect -- the countertop people who came out to install the countertop were amazed that the base cabinet tops were so level that they did not need any shims -- the counter laid perfectly on them.
As evidence of his attention to detail, I noted that all the cabinet doors were adjusted perfectly. Pairs of doors matched vertically, had an even gap from top to bottom and when I put a level on them, they were perfectly level. That same detail was shown in all of his work.
He closed off the kitchen well, so there was minimal dust in the rest of the house. Each night he cleaned up his work before leaving.
He is, in my opinion, an honest man of high integrity who loves his work and loves doing a good job.During all the work, Glenn was extremely pleasant to work with. He was willing to discuss alternatives for the various unexpected issues that came up and shared the design decisions willingly. He was also willing to explain the implications of the various solutions -- I learned a lot listening to him.
We worked together regarding schedule -- he worked other jobs while working to our delivery schedules for the cabinets and countertop. When the rotting around the house base was revealed (from a job he was not involved with), he was very responsive to our emergency, even coming out on Sunday to do the work so that the construction on the outside of the house could proceed without delay.
I wish I could post pictures of his woodwork on the cabinets -- I'd love to share how perfect they are (and I am a picky person :-) ).
