TILGHMAN CO

I have used Tilghman Company on and off for over 40 years. I try to have something made for my fiancee that is interesting and unique, that you don't buy off somebody's shelf. I had a signet ring made for her: Mr. Tilghman sold me the ring and we talked about the design I wanted carved on there, which of course had to be hand done. So he sent it away to have that work done. I've had unique earrings made out of coins fashioned by him. So we talk about how it will look and how it needs to hang from the earlobe. They do very very good work, particularly if you are looking for custom work. I had two Civil War era threepenny pieces which were silver. They are collectors items. I had a pair of earrings made out of them. He took the coins and measured them up and put a surround round them, which had to be anodized to match the color of the coins. We discussed whether they would be clip ons or whatever. When they came back they were just perfect. They were absolutely what I wanted. She was thrilled and my personal stock soared. They are very nice people there. It is a highly polished old school formal sort of jeweler. They are first rate. When they promise something will be ready, they will call you right on time.
