Initially, things went great. Paid in advance nearly $400 for a pool opening, was scheduled for a couple of weeks out (not too bad) and provider came on schedule. During the Opening, some small part replacements were needed ($180) and provider came on the following Monday again as agreed. Then things became very strange. The repairman informed me before he left on Monday that they would need to stop by Tuesday to complete the opening (some caulk needed drying), fine. When they came again on Tuesday - didn't let me know they were here (would prefer people to knock on door or something, I always tell people I work from home so please let me know when you are here so I am not surprised) until they needed something. When they left, said all was fine filters were clear, pump was operating fine, nothing to do. Seemed great. However, when my husband came back Friday night from a business trip he was extremely surprised to see a number of gross errors. An example: the skimmer buckets not being replaced, parts left in the yard, etc. He made a list of the errors and concerns and called Sunrise that Saturday . He was told by the receptionist that Sunrise would make things right and that what he saw as incorrect was not acceptable. So, we expected on Monday things would be checked out and all would be made well. Instead, when we next spoke to Sunrise though they did offer to come out again, Andy was told the things we reported were not true and that the tech's word was being taken over ours and the tech would never do something like that, etc. further implying that I (or someone else here, which there is nobody else here so that is impossible) removed the buckets and caused the indicated errors. Just patently untrue. I called Sunrise to confirm I would be here when they came back to check on things, the reception was quite brisk and cold. Unbelievably, apparently they came to check on things, again did not knock/ring doorbell so I had no idea they were even here and when we called in the afternoon to see if they had come / were coming were told they had come and VIDEOTAPED things at our pool. This is just bizarre behavior to come onto someone's property when you know they are home and are interested in the service you are providing then VIDEOTAPE the owner's property and leave without even saying a word. The only reason we knew they had come is because we had called them in the afternoon, not sure they would have ever called us. In any event, will never be using them again, and not recommending to others. We were ironically very close to committing to a 6,000 estimate for a pool heater and will now be getting that done somewhere else and moving on. We hope others experience is not as bad as ours.

Could not have been a better experience. Diane the sales manager and her husband came out, measured the pool and gave me a price on the spot. The two other pool companies took from 2 weeks to 3 months to come back with an estimate. Their estimate was better than 10k lower then the other companies. The resurfaced and finished with the diamond brite coating which gives the pool a blue color rather than the plain white plaster. This was 3k more but worth the extra money. They finished the project in two days and Diane stayed with them the entire time. I would recommend this company very highly.

I hired Sunrise - a local pool service provider to renovate our aging in-ground pool. They offered a service and price that appeared reasonable and within the range of other bids we received. I was not aware that subcontrators were to perform all the work. The plastering of the pool bottom was completed to our satisfaction. However, the tiling subcontractor did sloppy work, installing some tiles on the steps crookedly in contrast to the promised smooth and clean line of tiles. Vertical tiles along the waterline were set out from the wall almost an inch relative to the pool edge (existing coping) at some of the curved areas of the pool shape. Additionally, the subcontractor left a substantial mess behind, leaving wet plaster all over the driveway, landscaping and side of the house. The wall required power washing which removed the plaster but discolored the paint.
Sunrise Pools never came to quality check the job or the mess on the driveway and house. When I asked the owner why he hadn't done any quality checking he replied that he was too busy. I pointed out that the crew foreman on the job made no quality check either. Sunrises' attitude was that it was the subcontractor who screwed up and they would see to it that the subcontractor fixed the problems at the subcontractor's expense.
When I complained to the owner he came to my house with his subcontractor. They spent a lot of time discussing if and how to best repair the problems without leaving a visible patch in the new plaster. They were uncertain whether a patch would show. or that the tiles would not end in mismatched pieces. Apparently the existing plaster would need to cure for 30 days before any repairs could be attempted during which time the color can change slightly. They were also concerned that after that time they would not exactly be able to match the color of the cured plaster. Yet they decided that they would patch the job and that they needed to repair only 4 or 5 tiles in the steps and they would knock out about a one-foot section of the vertical tile and replace it. It's unclear to me how they could knock out the vertical tile in a small area, recess it about an inch into the curve without creating a gap in the pattern of the tile or to have tile mismatch.
Sunrise did have the subcontractor come back to our house to clean up the driveway and the house. On this occasion, I caught the workers going to my barn to help themselves to our gasoline for their power washer. When I told them not to use our gas, they went out to our barn again to get our power washer. I then told them to leave and go buy gas if they needed gas for their equipment, but not to go near by my barn again. They were not polite or professional.
After having two such bad experiences with the quality of work that we hired Sunrise to perform and after a lot of careful thought, I declined Sunrises' offer to have the same subcontractor repair their sloppy work. Their uncertainty in the final results convinced me that the repair might cause more harm than good. I expected Sunrise to be responsible for the work and they expect their subcontractor to be responsible. In the end, I paid a lot of money and got a job that looks like a homeowner did the work instead of a professional.

Overall, we had no problems. Don showed up on time, inspected the pool, and gave us piece of mind. He even taught us about the pool equipment and walked us through some basic parts of the pool service.

THE SALES PERSON WORKED WITH US TO DETERMINE WHICH POOL WAS BEST FOR US. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL IN DESIGNING A POOL FOR OUR YARD. THE ACTUAL TAKE DOWN AND INSTALLATION WAS SLOW IN GETTING STARTED. ONCE STARTED THE PROCESS MOVED ALONG. WE ARE NOW VERY SATISFIED WITH THE WORK DONE.
