2 custom 8 foot sliders were installed 12 months apart and both experiences were great. We happened to find a used Pella door for another room from a homeowner who was remodeling and asked Pella to install it at the same time the second door was installed. They did and with the same quality they did the new doors. Additionally, when blind parts for the used door were broken in transport, Pella was able to locate the original owner info to obtain parts #
's and transferred the information to my profile.
When we replace window, Pella will definitely get my business.
Crew arrived right on time with all needed materials. The old hardware was removed and saved and the old door unit was removed. Rotten wood in the old frame was cut out and replaced with "never-rot" material. Areas were insulated and caulked. Door bell wire was too short so they asked me to supply the with additional wire. At the same time I purchased a new door bell button since the old one was in poor shape. They made the wire connection and installed our new door bell button. The new door unit was installed and caulked. Our existing brass hardware was re-installed. Final wood trim was installed outside and inside and painted with our specified colors. They cleaned up inside and out. It looked like the new door had always been there. Excellent job and beautiful materials.
Donna Griffi - the sales rep I initially met with in early October was great as well. Professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. She was not at all pushy as one of the other window reps that had given me a quote was.
I would highly recommend them!
After we evaluated, and considered ... and saved some money for the down-payment we contacted Mr. Sappington to give him the go-ahead for our window installation. In the intervening year we had to add a "normal" window to the list that was leaking from the frame, as it was bent. He came by and did the double-check and put us on the schedule. He also walked us through Pella's financing system as they were offering a 0% interest deal. That accomplished he scheduled for a final measurement appointment. The guy that came by to do the measuring was also friendly and professional, and also pointed out a few issues that we were not aware of, i.e., the windows were in fact not original (as we thought they were), one of the 6 foot by 8 foot windows was newer than the others, and whomever installed them (we found out it was one of the previous homeowners) did not insulate the windows.
We were scheduled to have our new windows installed on March 25 of this year, and of course it snowed! The installation crew, and the dispatcher, called us to see if we were able to reschedule, which we did for the 28th.
The crew showed up early, a good sign, and immediately got to work. They even accomdated us with the order in which they removed the old windows so our cat didn't have to be confined to the basement. It went well to begin with, the old windows came out relatively easy, and the measurements of the new windows were really on point. There was a little trouble with the window on the first floor, which wasn't their fault as our house (built in 1974) had done a bit of settling, but they managed to squeak that 6 foot by 8 foot window into its new home.
Our "normal" window was the last one to be removed/installed, and they managed to replace it, and make it look like it matched all of the other windows on the addition. They could have just installed it, but they wanted to make sure it matched, so they tweaked the installation and made it pretty.
They also made sure to insulate the windows which made for an immediate difference inside ... No Draft! I also saw the care they took in caulking the corners of the flashing, took their time and made sure nothing was missed. The crew leader also pointed out an issue with one of our walls being "wet" and recommended a solution ... new gutters (this project is also on our List of Things To Do).
They went back and double-checked everything, and walked us around to look at the exterior of the new windows, and the interior. The crew leader also made sure we knew how the windows operated, and made sure that the trim that was installed (and I must say the guy doing the trim went the extra mile and leveled the trim as our walls are not "flat" [old 1970s stucco walls and "new" drywall]) was done properly.
In total, they were on the job for 13 hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and they left not one bit of debris.
