Garage Door Service
I recently ordered two new garage doors and openers, installed, from HomeDepot.com. The price of this order was $3,101.85.
When the installer came, he had only a single opener. I thought I had ordered two, so I reviewed his paperwork, and sure enough, it said to install only one opener.
I reviewed the paperwork I'd received from Home Depot, and found that the price of the opener supplied was $523.95, which seemed like a lot. I then checked on Home Depot's web site, and found the most expensive model that was offered was $269.00. I could not find the opener they installed for me anywhere on the site.
I called the store to find out why. Nobody was available in the millwork department, the place where they handle garage door orders. I called again the next day. This time I spoke to a person who was unable to find the order. A couple of days later on a Sunday, I went in the store. The person at the counter was not able to help, but said if I called back and spoke to the expediter on Monday, she could help. I called. The expediter was not able to help, either. I was 0 for 4.
I went to the Home Depot website and found a contact form. I explained the situation, and got a call back very quickly.
The website is definitely the way to go if you need a response with something like this.
I asked why the price of the opener I had was $523.95, when the most expensive opener online was just $269.00, and why I could not find the same model online.
This is when I learned that the entire project was outsourced to Clopay.
Over the next week, I had several conversations with the online Home Depot customer department, who in turn spoke directly with both Clopay and the store. Clopay never bothered to call me.
I discovered that the entire project was outsourced to Clopay. There was a lot of fingerpointing between the store, the store saying it was the vendor, and the vendor saying they fulfilled their contract to the store.
In the end, the store offered me a 'free' installation (which I had already paid for) if I purchased a second, non matching opener (they don't sell the one that was installed).
Since I wanted the openers to match, I declined this offer.
Bottom line, using Home Depot for installation services of garage doors and openers (and likely other services) puts a layer of insulation between you and the business that actually does the work. If you have issues, you'll get the run around. In the end, it is a poor solution that invites a bait and switch approach, and leaves everyone a loser.
Not recommended.

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel
It was horrible. They took too long. They only sent one man on the job. He smelled like a gorilla. My whole house smelled literally the whole time he was in there. The cabinet doors fell apart within two days of him leaving and they never returned to fix it even though I complained. They were unresponsive and did not do a quality work.

Grill Repair
We bought the grill from Home Depot and something was wrong with the starter and a gentleman from Home Depot came out and fixed it free of charge. I think they potentially knew that there was a problem with starter for this grill. They had great customer service and when my husband went in to ask about it they told him no problem and they will come out and fix it. My husband was ready to get a new starter and install it, but they will come and take care of it. He was here for only about 15 minutes and had it fixed. He even told is that we didn't have to be there and that he would just leave a card. It was a surprise and they have great customer service and they didn't charge us for anything.

Siding Service
I WAS REALLY HAPPY WITH THE SIDING INSTALLED. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WORK THAT WAS DONE. I WOULD USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN FOR OTHER SERVICES.
