From start to finish it was a great experience. Fred came out and spoke with my husband and myself. He was very sensitive to our needs and budget. I loved the door that we chose. Installation was amazing the crew arrived on time and treated our home as if were theirs. I would definitely use this company again.

Great but haven't made hiring decision for roof and chose another company for door installation with more appropriate product. Chris was very upstanding on responding to my needs and was flexible and responsive when competing for the business,. I may yet hire him for the roof job.

We used one of the Angie's deals. The workers showed up promptly and the door was installed quickly. however, there was damage done to one of the walls and they said they were leaving without mentioning the 12 inch break in the drywall. I went outside before they left and asked about the damage and he just asked if I wanted him to caulk it.

They put in a new slider for us a while back.  The previous storm door which had been custom made fell apart and had to be replaced way before it's time.  It was the same installation crew that put in the slider and they did a great job on the slider a year ago November and they did a very good job installing the new storm door. They were there on time.  Same crew as before and they were very good.  A very efficient crew, very pleasant and worked hard.  It was a very expensive door.  I decided this time I wasn't going to stint, since the last one turned out to be a giant fiasco.  Not that it was cheap, but it wasn't that expensive.  This time I went for a top of the line door & it is a lovely door.  I'm hoping that it's the last one I see until they carry me out of here feet first. They were good.  They were on time, they were efficient, they were pleasant and they answered my questions.  On price, I didn't do as much comparison shopping on that one.  I can't really say. I can't tell you yes or no about the price.  I really didn't do all due diligence in price, but in every other way they did a great job.

The installation went smoothly, and I really appreciated them getting the job done right before the holiday weekend. Very professional, on time, explained everything to me, and cleaned up everything afterwards.

The process went smoothly. Chris visited for about an hour to get specifics on the dimensions of the door/frame and to answer questions. When they had the door ready (in a week or so), they had a crew come by to install the door in about two hours. I'm pretty happy and would do business with them again.

I haven't been able to use the master bedroom due to the temperature being 5 to 10 degrees higher than the rest of the house, almost the same for the sunny side living room. The difference today is dramatic. A+ and thank you.

I was not impressed. We could not see the door before hand, there was no where for us to go to look at it either. There was no paper work provided and just had to go off his word. When I asked for past customer's names so that I could look at the finished product, he told me "they will not want strangers tromping through their house". In the past, contractors had voluntarily given us this information so that way we could feel more comfortable hiring them. When I later mentioned that he told us about going to a past customer's house he told me he never said that and I felt like he was calling me a liar. When I went over it again in more detail he came back and said "I don't remember ever saying that". The installers came out and took out the old door. It had been raining so we had to reschedule. They had a bit of trouble getting it out but they were able to. Chris, co owner, said that they would use foam to seal any gaps. My husband pointed out a gap and Brian (?), the head installer, said "no one will notice once we cover it up with the trim", not going to fill the gap at all. They some how got white caulking on our brand new mud mat, which I had taken away from the door so it wouldn't be in their way. They also left muddy foot prints in my kitchen. The screen doesn't want to roll smoothly and constantly hangs up on something. Turns out that the factory didn't trim the excess screen off the edges on the upgraded door, that they had voluntarily ordered for us. They had to cut it with a knife at my house. A few days later, Fred, the other co owner, came out and installed the screen one step below that they provided. He had trouble getting it into the track, but thankfully it rolls. Apparently, what came with the Big Deal was the standard door, which Fred came out to install. They didn't tell us this til after it was installed that it only comes with a standard screen door. None of the corners meet each other however, at this point I'm happy I can close it. I was washing the outside of the door last week with a microfiber cloth and it felt like there must be some glue residue still on the glass. Come to find out, there are ripples in the glass, so it is not a smooth surface. They came out and looked at it and told me "don't worry about it, it is not a safety issue. Sometimes this happens with tempered glass. We can replace this side but can't guarantee that the new one wouldn't have ripples either." Everyone was nice enough but not at all professional. When I called them about the ripples it took them 2 days to get back to me. This was not over the weekend either. They did finally end up giving me some contact info for people that are 20-30 miles away from me. They kept telling me how they did lots of installations in my area. That, to me, is not in my area. That is pretty far away. On the door that they installed, the handle had a real rough spot on it. My husband pointed it out to them so they replaced it with another one that they had in their truck. The latch is pretty floppy. Maybe it is to be that way, but it doesn't seem it should be. It's not a very high quality door by any means. I would not use them again or recommend them to anyone. Again, they are very nice, but not very professional. Chris also told me "It would have been better to buy the door from us rather than through Angie's List." They also didn't even give me a brochure until after the door was already installed. Fred did try his best to get us taken care of and to be helpful.

They put in a door and a window as well.
I had to keep having them back to adjust things. They were very good at coming back but nothing fit the first time.
The fitters were friendly, they were okay.

Old door was removed without damage.  New door installed.  I particularly want to call attention to the fact that the exterior replacement trim (which was heavily damaged) was replaced with great care given to cosmetic detail.   All the necessary steps regarding sealing and insulation seemed to be performed very well in addition.

From start to finish it went extremely well! Chris and his crew were on time and very professional. The job was done to my expectations! They were very thorough, very detail oriented and they cleaned up the area very well. After the job was completed the lead person of the crew took the time to show me how the new door works and how to keep it in good shape.
I will definitely use General Home Improvement again and will definitely refer them to family and friends.
