Chuck was fantastic! The kitchen had a dropped ceiling and there were a lot issues in putting up a drywall ceiling. He was able to overcome them all! The ceiling looks amazing. The tile work in the bathroom is beautiful. Chuck is extremely professional, dependable, and talented. I highly recommend him.

I live in a historic home, with a very heavy front door. Because of our little earthquake in Annapolis, my front door hinges were weakened. I ignored it until my front door literally came off its hinges, so I could not close it! My visiting son-in-law was able to force it close for me; I then contacted Chuck, upon finding him referenced on Angie's List . - Chuck came out very shortly after I contacted him on a agreed time based on my work schedule, which was actually after his regular work day. - He was very prompt and professional. He re-established the hanging of my front door, which is still perfect today. He was very courteous and honest in his assessment. He did an excellent job! I trust him and will contact him for future work.

We found Charles E. Jackson Construction on Angie's List. We need drywall installed in an existing 13 x 25 addition that we had ripped down to the studs. Chuck gave the best estimate for the job and we accepted. At the time of the estimate I said we needed the work done by the end of June at the absolute latest - we were holding a big party at the house August 2, and we were planning to do the work of painting and tiling the entire room, so needed time to do this.
We got the estimate about May 18. He said he wasn't able to start until mid-June which we accepted. However, later he had to push his start date back a couple of days, and ran behind schedule on the job. He did finally finish the job on July 3. (he installed the baseboards a couple of weeks later after the tile was installed, which was good)
We are happy with the work he did. It was a difficult job. The addition had a lot of oddities - sloped ceiling, really not square room, door and window opening and closings not quite right, uneven floor. And the room is un-heated/un-air conditioned. He did a great job getting the drywall, cement board, and casings installed, accomodating all of those oddities. We have no complaints about his work.
Our only complaint was with the schedule. As noted, he finished after the agreed-upon and quot;due dateand quot; and I had hoped it would be done before then. As other reviewers commented, while he works, he works really hard and doesn't stop. However, at least at our job, he would only work for a few hours each day.....some days 3-5 hours, a couple of days 2 hours, a few days more than 5. The total job took more than 2 weeks to complete, but I think could have been done sooner if he'd worked full days, especially at the beginning of the job.
He was apologetic about the delay completing the job and even offered to help us paint and tile, which is very nice and the offer was appreciated. We did the painting and tiling ourselves, and got the room completed in time for our big party, so all's well in the end.

Mr Jackson called and was able to come a few days earlier which worked out well for me. He arrived on time, and quickly went from job to job without any issues. He stopped to check exact height for both a curtain rod and shower head. He also ensured I did not have him install a dimmer switch that did not match. He assembled a grill and carried it up a flight of stairs onto the deck.
Overall a great experience and I would not hesitate to call him again.

Chuck Jackson repaired the leak properly the first time. He took the time to go into my attic to see exactly what and where the roof was leaking. He told me that all it needed was probably a small patch. When he came to repair the roof, he did so promptly and properly.
I previously had another contractor charge me $385 to and quot;repairand quot; the leak, and it still leaked. When I had him back to repair it properly, he said I would need to replace the whole ridge vent for a cost of over $800. That's when I called Mr. Jackson.
Mr. Jackson came exactly at the time he stated both for the estimate and then the actual repair. I wish I would have called him the first time. I will certainly call him again when I need a repair.

I bought an Angie's List Big Deal from Chuck, and he was stellar! He arrived on time (earlier, in fact), and was ready to tackle my projects. I had him help me with installing two faucets, fix my leaking toilet, and look at my shower head. He also gave me advice on what to do with wiring my home entertainment system. Best Big Deal that I have purchased in a long time, and highly recommended.

Chuck did a wonderful job with a host of different types of projects! He is meticulous and thoughtful, and was very easy to work with. I had a bit of trouble/delays with 2 other contractors as I was trying to move into my new condo, and ended up asking Chuck to help with some of the work the others were able to complete. He managed to finish everything in far less time, and charged me a very reasonable price. My only regret is that I wasted time and money with other contractors until I figured out how great his work is. I will definitely hire him again and have recommended him to my friends.

The experience was great. He is a good contractor and I never had any problems with him. He is always on time. We've used him 3 times. He only charges for what he does. He gets in and works. He doesn't take any breaks and he is working the whole time he is here. He is a very fair and honest person. He charges a flat rate plus materials so I know what I am getting going in. He does good work. He is very professional. We called him a couple of weeks ago about some more things.

It went very well. Mr.Jackson was prompt and professional. It only took five days to complete the deck. The weather did not cooperate. It rained some and was extremely hot. I would definitely call on Mr.Jackson if I need more work done and in fact have asked him to return in October, after the deck lumber has dried, to put a coat of stain on it.

Mr. Jackson was very prompt in answering inquiries and was highly rated on Angie's list, so I had great hopes. He showed up with his toddler daughter in tow which was okay. I really didn't have any objection, thought this must be a good person and a good Dad. She was actually fairly good though her DVD player was very loud and he allowed her to play with his phone which also made a lot of noise. She sent over 30 text messages of nonsense to my phone number. None of that is my complaint.

The problem was that he wasn't able to install the ceiling fan. He had most of the first one put together, but said that the remote box would not fit in the mounting bracket. He wanted me to tell him how it would fit in! I have never had an installer of any kind assume that the homeowner would be able to instruct him or her in how to do things when we have specifically hired him to do a job for us. If an installer was uncertain, I have seen them call the manufacturer of the product to get further information. He suggested that we could use the ceiling fan without the remote. And you could not control the speed or the direction of the fan. This meant that the light would go on whenever the fan would go on, which we mostly wanted to use at night when we sleep. When we pointed this out to him, he suggested he could take the light bulbs out. Then there would be no light in the room! Now does this sound like a professional or an amateur?

I asked him to take the fan back down and put back the original ceiling fixture. We paid him for his trip but got nothing but a wasted afternoon of waiting around for him. We did not ask him to try to install the second fan.
Response from Charles E Jackson Construction
"I accepted this project with a blind quote of $55.00. Removing and old ceiling fan and replacing with a new fan takes approximately 45 mins. The ceiling fans were purchased along with separate remote transmitter and receiver. I was not made aware of this during my conversation with the client. After removing existing ceiling fan I noticed that the ceiling electrical box was an antique electrical box that sat 3" up into the ceiling or not level with ceiling finished surface. When I installed the fan mounting bracket to the electrical box 3 inches past the ceiling finished surface it did not allow for enough space to install the remote transmitter. I installed fan without remote receiver/transmitter. Total process for one fan took 2 hours, removing existing fan, installing new fan, removing new fan and re-installing old fan. I've installed several ceiling fans. My advice to customers, let the contractor know before hand if you purchase a ceiling fan with a separate remote transmitter/receiver. You can purchase fan with a built in receiver, this saves time and $$$."

Chuck Jackson was very professional and efficient. He arrived at the time he committed to and completed the work much quicker than I expected. His rate is very reasonable. He returned a few days later to finish the drywall and did not charge us for this visit. I would highly recommend Chuck and will certainly contract with him again. Best contractor I have ever used.

Chuck is the best! I have used him in the past to fix my deck and the work he did in my kitchen is impeccable. He painted, put in new floors, lighting, installed plumbing for new sink, put in a phenomenal backsplash and new hardware for the cabinets. I love my kitchen, it went from the 70's to a modern highlight. The appliances and countertop were installed by another company but Chuck was there every step of the way to assist and watch the installation, he goes above and beyond what you ask for. His eye for detail and finished work are rare and added value to the finished product. I plan on using him to update my bathrooms and basement and I know they will look just as great!
