“One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning” replaced the thermostat in my 8 year old TRANE HVAC system today. After they left I went on Amazon and the price of the TRANE thermostat they replaced was $220. The “expert installation” from Amazon would have been $103, making the total price $323. The charge from “one-hour” was $466. The price would have been $525 but when I asked them to do so they waived the normal $49 “diagnostic fee”. The thermostat “one-hour’ used for replacement was not the TRANE name brand but a “knock-off” model with the “one hour” brand so I am sure their replacement thermostat cost was less than the $220 TRANE thermostat replacement price. There were no difficult traveling conditions (like snow and ice) or other factors that would justify “one-hour” charging 62% ($202) more than the Amazon price. To me this is a clear case of “one-hour” taking advantage of how difficult it is to price around on a cold day when your furnace is not working. Now that I realize how they price gauged me I am just hoping the thermostat actually needed replacing.

The person who is supposed to do the annual check up doesn't seem to know what he is doing but most of them are pretty good.

They are very punctual and come when they say. The annual fee covers the maintenance work. Of course, if there is extra work to be done, it is an extra fee. They are reasonable, reliable, and we have been extremely pleased with their service.

THIS SERVICE WAS FOR ROUTINE SERVICE ON MY 13 YEAR OLD HEAT PUMP SYSTEM. A LEAK WAS FOUND AND REPAIRED. THE RETURN VISIT TO CHARGE THE SYSTEM AND RECHECK FOR LEAKS WAS INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL COST. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HAPPY WITH THE WORK OF THE TECHNICIAN THAT WAS SENT FOR THIS SERVICE. I HAVE HAD A TECHNICIAN IN THE PAST WHO I HAVE NOT BEEN HAPPY WITH (HE EITHER NO LONGER WORKS THERE OR THEY NO LONGER SEND HIM TO MY HOUSE).
