I went and did some errands and he called me an hour later and said he had 4 tires but these were alittle better and would cost $900. It was snowing and I was driving up to VT so I was really at his mercy. He told he would "take care of me" next year when i had to change the tires over again. The kicker to all this is that I realized well after the fact that the tires were all Blizzacks but 2 were performance "speed" rated and two were more of a straight up snow tire. The upshot of that is they will wear and perform differently.
I will give the owner credit he has been doing this for a long time and is very convincing over the phone. He was good enough to up sell me into an unmatched set of tires for %50 more than he initially quoted.
oh yea, when i went back in the spring to swap the tires over, his idea of "taking care" of me was to offer to swap the tires for $75 instead of $100. I went to Tire Barn on Grove St and they did it for $60. NOT recommended!
I have owned Fisher, Diamond, and Meyer plows in the past and would say the Sno Way is much easier to mount and dismount from the truck and because of its design, leaves less parts on the truck when it is unmounted. The wireless remote control that Martin threw into the deal is really great because it allows you to leave the truck when putting the plow on or off so you better use the power assist features to mount/dismount the plow. The only negative thing I have noted it this plow's hydrolics are not as strong as the Fisher I was originally looking for. When pushing into a snow bank with the blade and an angle, this plow will not keep that angle. This is not a huge problem for my application, but may slow down someone using this plow for commercial plowing.
