Told me that they would draft up a contract and get ahold of me to start the work and have never contacted me back or returned phone calls. I've left about 4 or 5 messages.

We found Capstone at the Worcester Home Show and went with them after comparing three estimates. They were in the middle of the price ranges and we felt good about the person who was working with us (Dennis). We were wrong.

The job took more than three times the estimated two weeks, not counting months of follow-up to get things right. When they did the initial demolition, Capstone's people knocked a shingle off the outside of the bathroom window and never fixed it. Subcontractors were traipsing in and out of our house without reasonable notice. Some messed up the work others had done, like the trim installer who massacred the metal finishing cap where the toilet water feed comes out of the wall - it still looks terrible. One subcontractor left our back door ajar all day when we weren't home.

They tried to leave no baseboard trim under the vanity (it stands on 4 legs with the wall visible behind it) and leave a 2-inch gap wide open between the wall and the floor - we had to insist they send the trim installer back to finish it! A spot they cut in the wall outside the bathroom for electrical wiring was only partially patched so there was still a visible hole - we eventually fixed that ourselves.

Capstone left our bathroom a mess, not even cleaning up thick streaks of plaster on the window or the heavy-duty tape they put down to "protect" the floor - it was almost impossible to scrub out. They left a bunch of trash in our backyard for weeks until we demanded they pick it up when a severe storm was forecast and we were afraid the trash would be blown/thrown everywhere! Nothing makes you feel good about a contractor like having an old toilet decorating your yard.

The only "plus" we got out of Capstone's incompetence was they demolished more than they were supposed to, so we got "free" new wall trim and a new baseboard heater cover. Honestly though, I wish I still had the old wall trim because it used to match throughout the house and the stuff they replaced it with is a different style.

There were unresolved issues for an extended period of time after the job was "done" and we had to keep calling and emailing to get follow-through. The light above the sink had been installed far off-center and looked quite foolish - it was fixed long after painting was complete, leaving us with more work. The last time we had to deal with Capstone, the toilet had started wobbling and had to be addressed twice to be set properly - they did send someone since it was within the 1-year warranty but told us they would not stand behind their work if it continued to be an issue.

I would absolutely not hire Capstone again under any circumstances.
