Pro's: Affordable, no hidden fees, payment terms, nice finished product
Cons: The exterior clean up was poor. There were lots of nails and small debris left around the yard after the job was done. The employees at Window World were not responsive, unless it was something they needed.
Overall: I would hire Window World again but with different expectations.
(out of Woburn, MA) had installed the
windows. Since I wasn't aware and,
apparently neither were the previous owners, that the warranty needed to be
transferred to me within 30 days of closing, the windows are no longer covered
under their ?lifetime? warranty. So,
ok but I have a broken pane of glass and
am willing to pay for it to be replaced.
So far I can't get them to fix the window. They don't call back as promised. I was told that the owner (Eric) would call
me. Didn't call. I called back and left voice mail with the
Service Manager (Gayle, I believe), no call back. The service manager immediately puts me in
defensive mode whenever I have spoken with her - very grating demeanor. Every time I ask a question she immediately
wants me to talk to the owner. The
warranty situation feels like a "clever" business practice and they
provide very poor support of their product as far as I can tell. The service manager recently asked me to see
if I could get the factory to repair the window under a factory warranty
knowing full well that they'd ask for the paperwork to prove that I was the
original purchaser of the windows or that the warranty had been transferred to
me within the 30 days. This seems to be
a stalling tactic. Maybe they are trying
to wear me down. I?ll post this review
to every site where I can do so in hopes that buyers will be cautious when
doing business with this company. It
will cost me a few hundred dollars to get the window repaired but by posting
this, they may lose thousands in business and don?t seem overly concerned about
the reputational damage it will cause to the company. Notice
on their website they have plenty of testimonials regarding sales and
installation but only one video regarding the warranty which I could not get to
run. Also, I don?t think any of the
testimonials pertain to Window World in Woburn. Some good may also come of this post if
someone selling or buying a home, who may have overlooked the window warranty,
will remember to transfer the warranty. Buyer
of Window World Windows beware. Buyer of
a residence with Window World Windows beware.
I posted the same as above on bbb.com (Better Business Bureau) and here is the response from the GM below. Note that he had time to follow-up to bbb and admit that he talked to me and promised to repair the window, but still hasn't made any moves to call or to actually repair the window. Again, beware...
Comment from the Business:My name is ****, GM of Window Word of Boston. In response to this post, my records indicate that I in fact personally spoke to *** on 10/31/2014. Our discussion entailed the fact that all Window World windows come with a life time transferable warranty. However in ***** case (*** not being the original purchaser of the windows), the original purchaser failed to transfer the warranty as required upon selling their condo. Regardless of that fact, I made it perfectly clear that Window World would honor warranty coverage for the windows and window components at no charge. (Excluding Labor) Window World labor rates are well below prevailing industry rates.by on 12/29/2014
