USA DEMOLITION INC

USA Demo provided a printed quote through my deck contractor (I hired USA Demo directly).  They did not provide basic information like what time they would arrive.  I e-mailed the rep about this and other questions about avoiding vegetation damage, what equipment would they use, how long would the job take etc. but got no response.  Finally the morning before they were to come I phoned the rep and told him I would cancel the job if they didn't answer that day.  He told me he "didn't realize I wanted a callback."  Obviously he hadn't bothered to read my message.

They did the actual job as quoted.  They sent only one person and he did the job in about 6 hours which seemed very efficient. However, he departed without speaking to us, and left the site without cleaning up.  There were pieces of wood, nails, metal hardware, and other debris all over the site (the quote had specified "broom clean" and this was not the outdoor equivalent of broom clean).  I asked them to come back and clean up, which they did, and they apologized for leaving the site messy and not speaking to us. 

After seeing how little time they actually spent I requested an itemized bill.  The rep e-mailed back rather tersely that they don't do itemized bills, and I had agreed to the quoted price.  They did do the work as quoted so I paid them, but I still wonder if it was a good deal -- whether 6 man-hours of labor, a dump truck, and disposal fees really add up to $1400.
