PROVIDENT FUNDING ASSOC

Was going OK until the day before the closing. At 6pm called to say they would not release the funds because the 3rd verification of employment service at an employer was not available (they said it went out of business which is hard to believe). Why they waited until after business hours the night before the closing is beyond me. Our lawyer was on the phone for a long time that evening to get it straightened out and we thought we were all set. When we arrive at the closing, our lawyer tells us that she cannot release the funds until all the closing docs are sent to the underwriter to review and approve. This is a practice I have never encountered in 30 years and dozens of closings. So it takes a while to get the docs scanned and sent (connectivity issues) and they are finally sent a little before noon. At which time, the underwriter tells us that she did not receive them via email and she will be out of the office for an appointment from 12-1 (sounded like just a lunch break to me). Several angry calls to her bosses did not yield anything, so at 1 she gets back and starts reviewing the docs and says that 3 things were missing, of which only 1 was actually missing, the rest had already been sent. So we (re)send the items and she comes back with more items that are missing (again most had already been supplied) like the home owners insurance page. Anyway we started the closing at 11 and left at 3. Please do yourself a favor and avoid them at all costs, they are not worth the years they will take off your life with the stress and aggravation.
