Where do I start. Calling Rich a consummate piano tuner is almost an insult to what he does. He's a rare and gifted artisan who can build pianos from scratch and also happens to tune and maintain them wonderfully. He's been tuning my Steinway since I bought it around 8 years ago (he specializes in Steinway and used to be Steinway's top technician in Boston). But what he really does is elevate my piano into a realm of perfection that makes it a complete joy to play. He has also done voicing work, one time he took out the entire action and brought it back later to fix barely perceptible inconsistencies. My music stand was getting difficult to move so he took it away and reshaped it slightly so it works better. It was be impossible for me to overstate how good a job he does or how highly and enthusiastically I would recommend him to anyone who owns a fine piano.
Description of Work: Rich came and tuned and voiced my Steinway Model B.

Rich is a masterful piano technician, calling him a piano tuner is actually not even close to describing his abilities. He is a true master at his profession, he tunes, regulates, voices, but he can also build a piano virtually from scratch, it's truly remarkable. He has voiced my piano several times and when he leaves I usually find myself playing for a few hours straight just to listen to the tone. I don't have AC so after a while the keyboard action becomes a little uneven and some keys even stick -- he fixes all that as part of his regular routine. He has also done more significant work, like trimming the size of the music shelf so it slides into place more easily, all the way to doing major work on the action of my Steinway Model B, for which he removed the action and took it back to his shop. I honestly don't think there is anything whatsoever piano-related that would be beyond him. Oh, and his rates are extremely reasonable. It's ridiculous. I would never in a million years entrust my piano to anyone else! Seriously, why would I?
Description of Work: Rich tuned, regulated and voiced my piano. He has worked on my Steinway for the past several years, he used to be a top echelon technician for a Steinway dealer, but he's now independent and works on all types of pianos.
