Terrible. How do I get my money back.

On September 30, 2015, I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for the following:

"Here's the Deal:$49 for a kitchen or bathroom design consultation with 3-D renderings, In-home consultation, full set of computer-generated 3-D renderings ,Final in-home plan review, $500 credit toward your total remodeling project if you hire service provider to perform the work."

I had to contact McDavitt Construction -- specifically the owner Carl -- several times over a month period before obtaining an appointment on 10/29.  Carl and Olga came to the house (albeit late) and evaluated the bathroom.  While I will refrain from editorializing about that process, they took pictures and measurements and promised the design within a month or so.  I said fine.  Amazingly, Carl told me he was a bit overwhelmed with the response to the deal, as he was with a prior deal, but was considering Angie's list suggestion to offer more deals. (As such, I consider Angie's List complicit in this failure).
One month went by and nothing.
Two months went by and nothing.
On December 16, I emailed Carl asking for an update and citing an Angie's List "F" review for "taking the money and running" for the deal.  Nothing.
It is now January 7, 2016 and I have heard nothing from McDavitt Construction. I feel that both Angie's List and McDavitt Construction defrauded me with this deal.  I want a refund from one of them.  And I am cancelling my Angie's list after I get an answer because it is not the same service as it was when I joined 15 years ago.  If I could give Angie's list an overall F as well  if I could.

Working with Carl and his team was an absolute pleasure! From the initial consult to the finishing touches everyone was extremely polite, professional and patient. It's always a little weird having strangers in your house and kitchen renovations take a long time so you want to make sure you like and feel comfortable around them! Carl was always extremely patient in answering my questions and taking time to listen to my concerns. We were lucky in that our renovation did not encounter too many major problems but when a few little hiccups happened here or there they were always dealt with swiftly and with little fuss. Carl did work in tandem with our designer but the quality of the construction on its own is excellent! We recently had family over and they remarked that the floor tile was laid down so clean and even -perfect- that they could have sworn it was synthetic! All in all we are extremely happy with the way everything turned out and would definitely recommend McDavitt Contracting to anyone in need of a contractor for any project - big or small.

As I've been telling everyone, Carl McDavitt transformed our house from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan.

• ROOF: He stripped the roof and put on a new Certainteed architectural style roof. 
• WINDOWS: He replaced all our windows with Harvey tilt in windows including a new bay window.
• BACK STAIRS: We had an old prefabbed cement block type of stairs that had to be broken up to be removed. Carl then built us a new back porch using Azek products (similar to Trex). We decided to use a two-tone effect and to be completely maintenance free had him wrap the railings and balusters in vinyl. He also built a door for under the stairs so that we can use it for storage. 
• SIDING: Instead of repainting the house we decided to use Certainteed Cedar Impressions® Double 7" Straight Edge Perfection Shingles. It's absolutely beautiful. More expensive but totally worth it! We receive so many compliments on this choice.

DOORS: Carl installed and painted new front and rear doors from Harvey and also a storm door for the rear. He had to put in new thresholds as well. The doors look terrific. For the back door, I opted for the one with the blinds in between the glass. Love it.
We also had a new bulkhead installed, gutters and downspouts replaced and also replaced the front and rear water spigots. All in all the transformation of our home is amazing. I've attached some before and after photos.

Project 1; Remodel of our kitchen and bath in a 20 year old home.
Included replacing kitchen/bath floor with ceramic tile, new bath and kitchen fixtures, painting, plastering, installing tile backsplash, etc.
The project came out beautiful with no surprises.

Project 2; A pipe burst in the 3rd floor of our 120 year old apt house.
Replacement of ceilings, walls, floors, bathroom, etc was necessary.
Seems every time a wall was opened we exposed rotting pipes, etc. that needed replacement.
McDavitt handled every obstacle with no difficulty, though the cost rose every time this happened. Not their fault, though.
They worked extra hours when necessary to insure the tenants were comfortable and secure.
Under Carl's direction, they even installed access panels to allow easy access to plumbing junctions throughout the house.
Again, the end result was better than we ever expected.

The timeline was defined for the project early on, and I was extremely pleased as all work was finished prior to the established deadline.  From start to finish I was extremely pleased with their professionalism, knowledge, cost, and quality of the work.  Carl and his crew were pleasant and easy to work with.  I would highglyrecommend them to anyone that asks.  Great Job!!!
