Excellent work. I would definitely use Hurley Painting again despite the high prices.

I have waited several weeks before submitting my report, in an effort to have time to 'reflect' on the experience and not to be overly negative in my description: I was enthusiastic with Jim Hurley at the start, he came across as professional, gave a copy of his liability insurance, generally talked a good talk, plus I thought it was a good idea to have a local person do the job. The original quote was $8k, which was too expensive (other quotes were $4k-$8k), we agreed no back deck ceilings would be painted, thereby reducing the cost. We agreed the work would be completed by July 1st. I noted how important it was to not get paint on the new composite porch materials, and new bluestone steps and patios. Supporting crew did not look to be professionals, more like friends who really needed work. Work was not completed until after July 6th, must have gone to another job rather than finish mine on time. Upon inspection I found problems: windows not fully painted, areas needing caulking, paint specks on composite porch & bluestone & plants, paint on new doorknob. Jim used the wrong color paint on windows because "that's what he had on hand". Jim apparently shouted at first floor tenant for walking on the fresh paint (Tenant's wife had come home, unaware of the painting, and did mistakenly walk on the porch). Jim should have put a barrier up as a warning, his fault, not the tenant's. Decking not fully painted in the 'cracks' between boards. Asked Jim to do his own final inspection, to see if he would see the same problems I did, he did not, I did not want to argue, I would not hire him again. All and all not a happy experience for me, poor performance by Jim.

He communicated well and when he found something that needed to be fixed, he asked if that needed to be fixed. His pricing was a bit expensive but the quality of his work was good and I was satisfied with his service.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORKED PERFORMED. JIM AND HIS CREW TOOK CARE TO PROTECT OUR RUGS AND FURNISHINGS, PLASTERED HOLES AND CRACKS EXPERTLY AND COMPLETED THE JOB IN A TIMELY FASHION, JIM IS A GREAT PERSON TO WORK WITH. WORKER'S ARE INSURED, PROMPT, DETAIL-ORIENTED. BOOK IN ADVANCE AS I BELIEVE HE IS QUITE BUSY.
