We were on a trip and got an email from our young neighbor who was raking our leaves. He'd been attacked by what he assumed were bees in the leaves. When I got home I went online to find someone to help. Bill (I think that's his name) called me right back. He explained that the small black insects were Blackjackets and react the way Yellowjackets do. They build nests above ground in the leaf litter which made sense since it was where the hosta and astilbe are. An area hard to rake. He explained that the workers would be going out to bring food back to the nest but since it's now close to freezing, they won't find any and won't come back. The remaining 'leaders' in the nest will go out and hole up separately for the winter. So, he said just wait a few days and then you'll be able to rake. He was right on. I saved money but more important, I found an honest man!!
Description of Work: We had some stinging insects in our leaves and called for help with them. Bill talked me out of his service!
