D M C and Son Remodeling

Going very well.

We had two bedrooms with walk-in eaves on the second floor of our 1965 brick bottom Cape. This meant that we had more storage than we needed and our two teenaged daughters were sharing a fairly small bedroom. We decided to remodel the second floor so that the eaves would be eliminated and two bedrooms could become three, theoretically reducing the number of arguments between the teenagers. We also wanted to remodel our kitchen so that we could incorporate approximately 150 feet of wasted breezeway space into the kitchen. After talking with a number of design-build firms, we found DMC and Son kind of by accident. We went through the necessary work with a local architect, moved our bedroom stuff into our mostly finished basement, and Dave, his partner Gary and their crew got to work on our second floor in July. They completely gutted the bedrooms and eaves. Their framers tore off the front of the roof, framed the full-shed dormer and got it covered in a day. By mid-September, we had three bright, beautiful, large bedrooms with giant closets, hardwood floors and big new windows, and new central air conditioning for the first and second floors. Our kitchen remodel started in earnest as soon as the bedrooms were finished. The walls between the dining room and kitchen, and between the kitchen and breezeway were eliminated, new support beams were recessed into the ceiling, creating a large, open concept L-shaped area. The whole kitchen and breezeway were completely gutted. New framing and ceilings were put in. The breezeway ceiling was raised so that it could be the same height as the kitchen ceiling. Old vinyl flooring was torn up and new hardwood has been put down. New cabinets have been installed and we're getting ready for delivery of our new appliances. Through all of this work, Dave has been on site or in contact with us by phone. He has shown up each and every time he has told us he'd be here. He has done an outstanding job of coordinating all the work, and working around my husband, the electrician (he did all the wiring). A large renovation can be an extremely stressful and disruptive experience. Ours wasn't. (I should mention that we have lived here through all of the work.) I don't know how to adequately thank Dave for his good work, for keeping things moving along so smoothly, and for making a big renovation project just about stress free. I would absolutely recommend DMC and Son for any remodeling job.
