Seemed very professional and had a good price and recommendation from a relative of ours. He also came out to meet with us several times on a Saturday to get the pricing right. That part was great. We had pretty much decided to hire him for the other site work and excavating on our new house project (septic, foundation, etc), provided he did good work on the driveway. I wrote to tell him that we were going to hire him and that a contract was forthcoming. I forwarded our plain english simple contract to him and also required that they provide a partial waiver of lien on payments, which is standard practice in the construction industry. Several weeks passed and we had an appointment to meet and sign the contract this coming weekend. Today he advised that he is bailing out of this project and was not willing to even work with us to adjust the contract into his comfort zone. I was even willing to offer to pay for his time to deal with the extra paperwork, but was not given that chance, he just said "not interested". Now we are months along and back to square one with winter coming along. I sincerely wish he had mentioned his aversion to contracts when I told him in July that we were sending him a contract, or at the least once I sent it to him. Very unhappy with the situation and had expected more professionalism based on the early part of the pricing process.
