Fine. The project was begun promptly and then left uncompleted for several weeks. When I contacted Dean, though, he came right over and finished the job.

We had purchased the house from out of state but not yet  moved in. Our insurance company insisted in repairs by a certain date or they would cancel. I called six different contractors before I called Acheson. Only two of the six called back and they were too busy to do the work by the deadline. Acheson went out the next day, gave us an estimate and completed the work two days later, once we approved it. they also took pictures of the process and sent them to our insurance company. We plan to use them again in the spring for some other repairs that we need, both exterior and interior.

We were provided with a very inaccurate estimate, which ultimately led to the cancellation of the deal. We relied on Dean to give us his honest, expert assessment. When we questioned why the invoice equalled the estimate when the work was about halfway done, we were told we did "not understand how much work it was." The work is subcontracted out to other workers paid by the hour, so we are billed what the workers bill him. Dean was definitely responsive if we had a question or a problem, but he was not on-site supervising the work or verifying the hours. (For example, we were billed for 6 workers, whereas we only ever saw 3 over the course of the 5 days.) As such, communication regarding day-to-day progress and next steps was lacking. Dean himself suggested the cancellation of the deal, as he sensed our misgivings were growing. We are happy to be moving forward with another company.

I bought a condo unit in a converted old house.  My unit has a narrow hall way with rooms off of it.  I needed an open space so I wanted the attic floor finished and converted into an open great room.  I started to collect bids and Acheson was very punctual and professional every step of the way.

I met Dean Acheson at a store in my neighborhood and liked him right away. He was professional and personable. My husband and I are first-time homeowners, and initially we were looking for an interior house painter. Dean soon became our go-to guy for bigger projects as well. As a contractor, he was very helpful and knowledgable, anticipating questions on our behalf and getting the answers from a wide range of sources. Whether it was a plumber or an electrician we needed, Dean knew who to call, and he set up meetings on our behalf to address issues both large and small.
As is often the case with remodeling, we ended up investing in more projects than we initially had intended. We had planned to keep our house's original knotty pine kitchen, for instance. At the last minute, we decided to rip out the knotty pine cabinets and start from scratch. Dean's crew prepped and painted the kitchen space, and later installed our new Ikea kitchen (which we love). They also replaced a ceiling in our sitting room, and put in extra insulation. And they did a beautiful job painting several rooms, including trim work and special features such as bookshelves and bay windows.
Dean is very trustworthy, as is the crew he sent to our house. They really helped make our house a home, and they seemed to take personal pride in their work. Like Dean, they were professional and personable, and they all really went the extra mile for us. Just the other day, I was having new flooring installed in the kitchen, and we needed a space heater and a door covering, in a pinch?the floor material needed to be warm in order to be pliable. I called Dean, and within a couple of hours he stopped by with a heater and a wool blanket for us to borrow. Now that's service. It's also just... nice. 
I would definitely recommend these guys. They really come through.

Everything went fine, no complaints.

Our house is almost 100 years old and they were able to match the trim with new product. You can't even tell the difference. They did a good job and came in on time and on budget.
