In the summer of 2008, we were looking for a landscaper to completely re-do our entire back yard. We wanted a pool with widespread landscaping and knew we needed an extensive retaining wall system to make this happen. After searching the internet and making phone calls, we found Joe Driscoll. He was local, and had a good word of mouth reputation after asking around a bit at the local building supply outlets in town.


Initially on the phone we told Joe basically what we were interested in doing. Within a few days, Joe was at my house with a landscape architect and a pool builder in tow! Joe and the others assessed the situation and within three weeks we had a set of plans, a plan of attack, and estimates all around.


Joe explained the pitfalls of what we were going to do and told us that sometimes things have to be modified on the fly with a project as big as ours. Joe and his crew built nearly 1,000 square feet of Versa Lok walls on my property. With over 20 feet of grade difference in my yard, Joe was right on the mark with the walls when he finished. Each step, 12 in all, were on the mark as well. He also installed paver walkways and new planting beds.


In 2009, we had Joe return to landscape the front and both side yards. He completely re-landscaped the front yard, built a few more walls, made more planting beds, installed paver walkways, stone steps, then put in over 250 plants and shrubs, irrigation, extensive landscape lighting, and sod throughout the entire yard. We then had him put in 800 square foot paver pool deck.


In 2010, we had Joe install another paver walkway to our front yard along with additional landscape lighting in the backyard and around the pool.


In 2011, we had him install a paver half circle pack by a gate and a small stone wall in a planting bed. We have also used Driscoll Landscaping for annual spring cleanups and fertilization each year since. We have also used him for snow removal occasionally when snow accumulations that have been more then 18 inches.


As for pricing, landscaping is expensive but our thinking it's cheaper to pay for it once done correctly versus having to pay a second contractor to fix someone elses mistakes.


Having Driscoll Landscaping return year after year indicates how happy we are with the work. His company has done thousands of dollars of work for us. He is properly licensed and insured for all the work has done on our property.


We are very proud of the work he has done and would recommend him for any landscaping project.

This company did a great job. I called them to remove leaves on my property before an open house while we were trying to sell. We would've done it ourselves, but my husband had to go out of town for the few days before and I had to hire someone. I was in a hurry to get it done. He came out the day I called to give me an estimate, and then scheduled me for two days out. If I remember correctly he would've done it the next day but didn't due to weather. They came right on time, spent about 2 hours, and it looked great afterwards. I thought $300 might've been a little high, but due to my time issues I can see why he might've charged that. Overall I was really pleased though, and would hire them again due to their professionalism and great work.
