WEST MECHANICAL

This is the second year using West Mechanical for annual maintenance of HVAC equipment. Was first surprised that they had increased my rate 20% over last year's service when I called to schedule the appointment. Mike the technician called prior to the scheduled time window to let me know his ETA. Upon his arrival, he complained that his thermal probe was not functioning and cost about $300 to replace. Not off to a good start for measuring AC and heat output from residential vents in our apartment. Loosely translated he was not properly equipped prior to a $180 inspection. He conducted the usual tests with my thermostat verifying it turns on and off but could not measure the output. He then went up to our roof to test the compressor. Ours was the only one on, so we assumed that must be the correct unit. I called downstairs to my wife and had her switch it on and off to verify. All seemed OK.
Following the service visit, Mike left a light copy (last of multiple carbons) of the service report. I scanned the original so I would have a readable version. When I went to file the report in a folder, I noticed two things:
1) Last year I had a "HVAC Inspection Checklist"  which enumerated all inspected items in addition to the instrument readings. None was provided this year.
2) The serial #'s of the compressors serviced were different from last year.
I called Steve at the office and described my observations regarding the lack of reporting, ill equipped technician and being charged to service some unit other than mine previously. Steve informed me he would think about a resolution and get back to me. Shortly thereafter Mike called to tell me he would "fax" the report that afternoon. Never heard back from either party and full billing just hit my credit card.

The problem we had was that the part ordered was sent to the wrong address and it wasn't rectified until our serviceman got back from vacation. He then called right away to apolpgize and to come out to finish the job.
