Let me just say that this was one of the easiest dealings I have ever experienced dealing with a contractor. I joined Angie's list because I had never had the roof replaced, and I wanted to see what was out there for contractors. One of my biggest concerns, was that they be insured, and that they had good reviews. I choose three contractors, two off of Angie's list and one on a recommendation from a friend. Let's start off with the friends recommendation, I never saw the contractor when he came to take measurements, he just told me he would send his guy out. A week later I received a call from the contractor, he said his guy checked it out and could do the job for six thousand dollars if I pay by check or five thousand-five hundred if I pay by cash, but in both cases the price did not included the garage. I DO NOT OWN A GARAGE!!!!. Safe to say, he was not in the running. The second company was from Angie's List and was from North Providence. He came out right away and took measurements, but it took weeks to get an estimate from them. They also forgot to included the gutters, this also took weeks to get. The estimate for the roof and gutters was near seven thousand dollars. I emailed Daignault Construction on a Friday night via Angie's List and received a response Saturday morning from Chad (the owner). We discussed what I was looking for and we made arrangements for him to come out that week and give me an estimate. That Monday morning Mr. Daignault arrived at my home. We talked more about the job and he proceeded to take measurements. He told me he would go back to his truck and write up the estimate, and that he would come in when he was done. He completed the estimate and came in and presented to my wife and I. Chad not only provided a detailed estimate, he also supplied copies of all his insurance for himself, the company, and his workers. He also had copies of all his licenses and he and his workers certificates as installers for GAF roofing materials. He also had photos of jobs they had done, and also gave me four letters of recommendation. He also explained everything they would be doing, from the materials they were installing to the number of nails (six) they would be putting in each shingle and explained that six nails is called hurricane nailing Even though GAF states that you need at least four to six, Chad said they always use six regardless. Before he left, my wife and I had already decided that we would be going with Daignault Construction. I can not stress enough how pleased we have been with Chad and his crew, I have already recommended Daignault to two people. It took several weeks before they could come and do the job, and it was through no fault of his. He had us scheduled the Monday after Hurricane Irene, He called me that Sunday night to see how we made out during the storm, I informed him that we had a problem, one of the power line poles had snapped at the base and was leaning towards my house with the power line about six feet off the ground. He and one of his workers came out that Monday to check it out. He said he was sorry, but he did not feel comfortable having his men on the roof with wires hanging over them, I told him I understood completely, and would not want to see them taking any chances. He told me to let him know as soon as the pole was fixed. It took several weeks for the power company to fix (not completely fixed) the pole.. In those two weeks, Chad continually checked in with me. When they were able to do the roof he called me on the Friday and said "my guys will be there Saturday morning around seven, you waited long enough. The crew showed up promptly at seven, had the house draped in tarps and had the roof stripped in two hours. They worked all day and barley took a lunch break. It was very hot and sunny that day and I had to convince a few of the guys to sit on the porch in the shade and eat their lunch there. Chad's foreman Frank needs to be mentioned because he had the crew working very well as a team, not once did I hear any arguing among the crew, no foul langue, they kept the music very low and just did an outstanding job. The whole group was very pleasant to talk with and answered any question I had. I felt bad because of the heat and that they really don't take breaks, so I went to the store and bought them Gatorade, You would have thought I gave them each a thousand dollars. This was the nicest group of workers I have ever had the please dealing with. they cleaned up both my yard and my neighbors yard, and you would never had known that I had two layers of shingles pulled off my roof. They worked until seven-thirty cleaning up. If you are looking for a top quality company, top of the line contractor, and a crew to match, you can not do any better than Daignault Construction. Chad has since stopped by with Frank to see how things are going. On one of his stops by my house Chad told me, " I don't make new customers when I do a job, I make new friends." This is so true Chad, you have made two new friends with my wife and I. I would also like to thank Angie's List for giving people the opportunity to research contractors and make the best informed discission. I have also received several compliments from neighbors about my roof. Thanks Again Chad and Frank for a job well done.
