 + -1 moreOver the years, I have found him to be the guys that tells you what you really need to have done and what can be deferred. He has also, given advice on when a car has reached its nature life limit. The bottom line is you can bring your car to Jeff and know that only required work will be performed, and when performed will be done right.
Description of Work: We have been taking our cars to Dave's 4-cylinder for year's. On this occasion, I had the "what's that weird noise" scenario, and took the car in. After spending a great deal of time trying to find the noise, he concluded that it was most likely a spare tire which had not been properly secured. He tightened, and the service was free.

 + -1 moreWe were going on a trip so left the car with them for a week. They worked through the different options we had discussed, and soon figured out that the initial master cylinder that had been installed was bad. They replaced it and it now runs wonderfully.Can't say enough about these guys (actually there is no longer a "Dave", and the shop has been run by Jeff for almost 30 years). Jeff took the time to explain things to us, thought through the best, least expensive path to diagnose the issue, and did great work on the car. I'm relieved to find a mechanic in this area that we can trust!
Description of Work: We have an older (1997) Toyota which has not run well since one a local transmission shop did a major overhaul on the clutch. We had several people look at it and no one could figure out the problem, and we were resigned to getting rid of the car and getting a new one. A friend urged us to check with Dave's, and we are delighted that we did. They weren't sure what the problem was but spent about 20 minutes with me going through what the options might be, and how they suggested they should try to deal with it, starting with the least expensive option and working their way up to some major, expensive options. They worked their way through the plan we had agreed to, and soon found the problem and fixed the transmission for a very reasonable cost - $500. We're delighted - we don't need to think about getting a new car - this one is running fine now!
