Joanne did a superb job and worked long hours to get the job completed within 2 days. Grasscloth wallpaper can be expensive and tricky to hang and Joanne's handling of the paper exceeded my expectations and I am absolutely thrilled with the results.

Joanne came as scheduled and did most of the job. Unfortunaltely we ran out of paper and had to have her come back 2 weeks later.

If Angie would let me give Joanne an A+ I would. Although I had a very small job, it was meaningful to me, and she promptly came over to quote me and to give me the measurements so I could order the paper I had picked out for the little entry vestibule of my 1902 home. She did a fantastic job installing an intricate Arts & Crafts reproduction pattern that matched the period of the home. I am so pleased that I am now considering what other rooms to wallpaper, this being my first foray into wallpapering. A true professional, you will be in good hands.

Joanne Barker was recommended to me by Rick Orcutt who I hired to paint my condo. She was wonderful. Due to my mistake I did not have the paper on the day she was scheduled to come. Joanne was very gracious and was able to complete the work shortly after I got the wallpaper. She did a great job and my place was spic and span when she was done. I would definitely recommend her and would use Joanne again.

Was very prompt, neat and clean. A change of plans on our part neccesitated rescheduling, which she did smoothly and without complaint.

Amazing. Just amazing. First of all, it was sheer luck I was able to hire Joanne on short notice, because she is so in demand.
Since she didn’t respond to my inquiry right away (she was out of town, which I didn’t know), I had called two others on Angie’s list before I heard back from her. When I described the job to them as above, one first tried to talk me out of wallpapering, then insisted I needed at least 3 more double rolls to complete the job, and finally quoted $500 to do the work. The other told me I needed one more double roll, and to call her back only if I could manage to find it online (acknowledging that, even if I could find one, a roll purchased today would likely not match the run I'd purchased years ago). A third person, a referral through my local paint/design center, came to look in person and told me it was dicey, but didn't rule out the possibility that three doubles would work.
Joanne returned my call on a Friday, after I'd gotten these three opinions, apologizing for and explaining the delay in responding. She gave me her quote, $330, and a start date a few weeks away, but I didn't commit at that point. On Saturday she called me back and said she'd gotten a sudden opening for the following Monday, and did I want to take it? I would never ordinarily hire someone, sight unseen, to do work on our house. But my instincts told me this woman was different, so I said yes.
After she arrived (exactly when she said she would) she took a quick look around the room, looked at the wallpaper, and didn’t bat an eye. When I brought up the question of whether it would be enough, she answered, “It’ll be close, but I think I can make it work – I have my little creative tricks. If necessary, though, you can always paint this wall [pointing to the one that was most broken up with openings – a conclusion I’d also reached].” She set up all her equipment (she has really cool tools that help her work solo with high efficiency) and got to work.
When my husband and I peered in a few hours later, she had already cut all the strips and made significant headway on the hanging. My husband remarked to me, “If we were doing this ourselves, we’d still be figuring out where to start the first strip!”
Joanne has gotten down to a science the way she approaches a room. Making the pattern fit in a way that looks seamless and uninterrupted — that is her art. To try to align strips perfectly from top to bottom is impossible on these wavy walls, yet she mastered the pattern and manipulated the paper in such a way that you have to look really closely — I mean really closely — to see where the pattern doesn’t quite come together. The whole room has been transformed; it looks fabulous, and everyone who has seen it has given it (as I do) rave reviews.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot: she did, in fact, completely cover all the walls with the three rolls, and even had a little paper left over. Amazing.

While our kitchen area is not large, there are many corners and so it required careful cutting of the material for a beautiful, even finish. I can recommend Joanne very highly for this work. She gave us good advice (not too pushy, but she does have an eye and an experienced opinion, which is what we wanted), came on time, did the job from start to finish to a high standard in only eight hours, within her estimate and for a very reasonable fee.

One of the reasons I subscribed to Angie's List was to find someone reputable to do this job and I did. Joanne came to give an estimate and we scheduled a time on the spot to do the work. She was prompt, good to work with and did a nice job on the mural. Thank you, Joanne!

Joanne is a member of the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers. She is, indeed very professional, and extremely personable. Both my husband and I liked her immediately. She set up all her equipment, and began working right away. I ordered the amount of wallpaper I thought she would need, however I should have ordered an extra roll.......Joanne made the amount work, which was incredible. I couldn't see where she added a piece to fill in a small space that remained, because I hadn't ordered enough paper. I searched and searched to find the area, and couldn't. I have a very keen eye, having been in the design business for many years, yet I could see only Joanne's talent, and the superb job she did in our dining room! We are tremendously pleased with the finished job, and have already told her we want her back, to do more for us. She was very neat and tidy, leaving the room in spotless condition. I wouldn't consider using any other paperhanger, as Joanne is the best!

She was easy to get in touch with and easy to get the whole process set up. She worked with me in terms of scheduling. Her level of expertise in wallpapering was very helpful because she gave me some ideas that I would not have thought of myself.

The room was 16 square by 11 1/2 high. There were 4 walls and it took 40 rolls of wallpaper. It couldn't have gone better. It was one of the smoothest jobs we've ever had done. There were no problems whatsoever. She recommended a company that did the wall preparation and they also painted the ceiling. The price was good but we didn't do a lot of comparison.

Very simply: we are *ecstatic* about the job Joanne did on our accent wall. Joanne visited initially for an estimate and was professional from the get-go, from dress to demeanor. She was helpful from the very start in discussing our wallpaper selection and purchase, as well as sharing about the process and what it entails. In our conversations with her we always felt she cared about us as clients and cared about doing a great job. In fact, we asked questions about whether some optional services that had been pitched to us by others were really necessary and she always gave us honest answers and no gimmicky services, which was very refreshing. And the wall she did: _amazing_ in her precision and the job turned out beautiful as she evened out the pattern perfectly on the edges. Looking at her work now there is absolutely NO way we could've purchased tools or had the skill level to match the level of quality (and we're very detail oriented and sticklers on precision). We are so glad we went with her! Joanne is friendly, clearly knows what she's doing, and has a lot of experience. Her rates are very fair as well. On top of all these great things we were happy to hire someone local to the North Shore. I am sure she works all over the area but if you're around on the North Shore and need wallpapering, look no further!

Joanne is a professional. She experienced a family emergency that coincided with the time she was scheduled to do the work and was very attentive to rescheduling the work promptly. She demonstrated concern about getting the work completed within a timeframe that met my needs. The work is beautifully done. Everyone who visits compliments the appearance of the wallpaper in the room. This was the second time I hired Joanne. I consider her my "go-to" person for wallpapering. I think her work is very reasonably priced. She is a "one-person show" and earns every cent.

I thought they were excellent. They did quality work. The cost was a flat rate of $300 a day. The foyer was more work that we thought it was going to be, so that took a little longer than expected. The dining room she pretty much did in the time she estimated, so we thought she was pretty efficient.

Joanne did an amazing job. The wallpaper looks stunning! We own an older home and the walls were difficult to paper. Joanne guided us through the process and was an expert on how to handle the walls for the best outcome. There were lots of difficult corners, arches, bulges in the plaster, etc., however, you would never know given the outcome. Joanne is a perfectionist and my walls look perfect. Joanne has a great attitude as well. I did not order enough paper for my dining room and there was a problem getting more. It took months. Joanne took it all in stride. She kept in contact with me throughout the delay and finished when the paper finally arrived.

The paper patterns chosen for each room had large motifs that made the pattern matching very critical. The results are such that it looks like only one large piece of paper was used. It looks really great. It took two days and the job came in right on estimate. Joanne was able to give us a good idea of what type of patterns to look for and provided great feedback on our final choices. She even suggested we wait on papering a 3rd room until we'd lived in it for a while. We are very happy with the results. We'd hire Joanne again for sure.

She was punctual, did an excellent job, easy to work with, made excellent suggestions. She suggested the place I buy the paper, the brand, and the style! I was able to pick the paper within 45 minutes, it was a very easy experience.

JOANNE BARKER WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH AND MADE THE JOB AND OUR ANXIETY OVER OUR WALLPAPER CHOICES MUCH LESS STRESSFUL. SHE SHOWED UP ON TIME AND FINISHED THE JOB RIGHT ON TIME. YOU COULD TELL WORKING WITH HER THAT SHE WAS TRULY CONCERNED ABOUT DOING A GOOD JOB AND WE'RE THRILLED WITH THE RESULTS! WE HAD A COUPLE OF WALLS THAT WE CHANGED OUR MINDS ON AND JOANNE WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING AND MADE THE CHANGES AS REQUESTED. HAD FUN WORKING WITH THIS CONTRACTOR WHICH IS A RARE EXPERIENCE THESE DAYS! THANK YOU!!!

THEY WERE GREAT. PAINTING CREW WAS A MINIMUM OF TWO PEOPLE AND AS LARGE AS FIVE. THEY WORKED 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR A MONTH AT LEAST 8 HOURS A DAY. THE WALLPAPER PERSON, JOANNE BARKER, WORKED SEPARATELY THE NEXT MONTH AND WAS SUPERB. SHE WAS PAID SEPARATELY, BUT WORKED CLOSELY WITH ORCUTT. SHE WAS CONTACTED JOINTLY WITH THEM (SORT OF A SUBCONTRACTOR) AND HAS HAD A LONG TERM RELATIONSHIP WITH ORCUTT. ORCUTT WILL BE RATED SEPARATELY SINCE HE HAS ANOTHER LISTING IN ANGIE'S LIST AS ORCUTT PAINTING & WALLPAPERING. IF YOU WANT QUALITY, SENSITIVITY TO CUSTOMERS AND RELIABILITY, I GIVE BOTH ORCUTT AND BARKER THE HIGHEST RATING POSSIBLE. THIS WAS OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE PICKING THE PAINT AND WALLPAPER, AND BOTH RICK AND JOANNE WERE VERY HELPFUL AND PATIENT IN HAVING OUR WHOLE HOME INTERIOR REDONE.
