Curtis came recommended by our realtor and upon meeting him, he is a great guy.  He promised that "when I start a job, I don't leave until it's finished".   Work began in August 2014, mostly completed by December but painting of house needed to wait until Spring (reportedly the paint contractor "ran out of time" in the season).  Work done by subs was completed on time and well as far as we could tell.  Work done by Curtis and his associate (who worked very hard when he was there) was sub par.  FInish carpentry mostly, floor boards not lining up, nail holes filled with obviously different color filler, brand new storm door already broken due to improper installation, wood on concrete on outside porch,  porch pillars wrapped with wood not properly nailed so now there are gaps, moulding not lined up properly, mitered corners not matching, wrong type of wood used for finish work, caulking already pulling away from walls in bathroom, doors not leveled so they are not closing or swinging open when left ajar.  Many days of no work done when promised that there would be or just expected that someone would be there.  Miscommunication was also frequent, although I do take some of the fault with that but it's hard when I think we are on one page but clearly realizing not so much in the end.   Still debris left in my yard, ladders, wood...My fence was not put back in backyard before the ground froze as requested.  Spoke with the contractor, was told to "wait til it's done, it will look good".   It looked horrible and turned out to be dangerous as we had to re-do some of the work already done, after a flood in the basement, only to find out that the wrong wiring and recessed lights were used which could have ended in a fire, and the contractor used the cardboard box the flooring came in for the basement which got wet and developed black mold. underneath.  I had to hire new contractor, new house painter, new landscaper and new electricians.  I am still in the process of finishing the work that should have been completed by this company.

The project started later than anticipated, but once they started, it went very quickly and was on budget. We were kept up-to-date daily and were happy with the outcome.

I was very impressed with Curtis's thoroughness and attention to detail. The joists in my walls are 4 1/4'' wide because my house is so old. Curtis actually ripped down 2x6's to create 2x4 1/4'' joists. He wanted the thickness of the joists to match the rest of the house, knowing that the structure had already been compromised by the bad sill. He took extra care to double them up. I appreciated him taking the extra time. He was a pleasure to work with and he completely surprised me when his final bill was for LESS than his original quote!
