 + -1 moreOur solar hot water system had stopped working. Ken arrived on the day and time as scheduled. He was extremely thorough and knowledgeable in solar and boiler systems. Ken spotted the problem within 10 minutes of his arrival-it was a bad control. The control was replaced and the tuneup completed. He explained everything he was doing and why. He also taught us how to adjust the water temperature and what to look for. It was a wonderful learning experience for us. Ken said his motto was to treat his clients like family. He accomplished that with us. I would highly recommend him for your solar maintenance.
Description of Work: Routine service on solar hot-water. Replace bad control.

Description of Work: Fixed Solarmetrics controls of solar hot water heating system. He determined and fixed problems caused by one inept HVAC company employee who shorted system and another person who miswired system while installing new traditional heating system.

 + -1 moreHad to prepare the solar panels for a new roof; this requires draining them and turning off their connection to the hot water heater. Then after the roofing, hooking them back up. They also replaced the glazing on our panels. They gave us great advice on ways to save energy and were professional and polite.
Description of Work: Serviced & repaired our solar panels used for our water heater.

 + -1 moreIn that and all other jobs, Ken has always come promptly, charged a fair price, and has given us excellent advice on how to optimize our system. We highly recommend him.
Description of Work: We have used Ken Olsen to maintain our solar hot water system for well over 10 years, performing periodic tune-ups and making repairs. In May 2006 he installed a stainless steel solar hot water tank, which was extra expensive but has a lifetime warranty.
