Description of Work: I contacted Bret by email asking what the process was to get some coins appraised. Bret responded promptly asking for a list of the coins. I sent a list, but didn't hear anything back for a while. Eventually I emailed him again, asking for a response. He replied that all the coins were common and not worth much. |I didn't really expect that the coins were worth anything of great value, so I'm okay with the process and the result. I also realize that all of this was at no charge to me. |I just have one minor quibble that would make me downgrade him to an A-, and that is that he didn't respond when I sent the list. I am "old school" and a business owner myself, and I believe you should respond to all clients, even if it's not getting you any business right now. You never know when that little bit of extra effort will pay off in the future!

Description of Work: emailed to verify that in fact they appraised and purschased old coins. They replied and indicated yes. However, once we provided an extensive list of the coins, we never received a reply after 2-3 follow-up emails. I would NOT recommend this company.

 + -1 moreHe was very gracious and helpful to both my wife and I as we had a lot of questions about these coins. We were both quite impressed with Mr. Leifer knowledge of them. He called a buyer who he could sell the coins to. He then calculated their worth and came up with a figure that was very fair and then made out a check payable to us right there. We could not have been more pleased with the whole transaction as to what the coins were worth and what we received for them!
Description of Work: I got in touch with Mr. Leifer over the phone and arranged a meeting together as I needed to sell some coins my father left me after he passed away. I could have sent them to him but I felt more comfortable if we could meet for the first time and he could help both my wife understand this process of selling coins.

 + -1 moreI used Mr. Leifer's services as a numismatist, to sell a collection of coins that my Father left to me. I know absolutely nothing about coins and their worth. Based on my email exchanges with Mr. Leifer, I could tell he was being very honest and sincere. When I met with him, he was friendly and happily explained things about coins, with no attitude. He double checked prices before making me an offer to buy the coins. He also showed me how to determine if a particular coin is silver or not. Mr. Leifer was professional, courteous and friendly, as well as trustworthy! I highly recommend using his services if you need sell coins and I'm sure he is the same when buying coins. I might suggest that if you choose to use Brad Leifer's services, that you send him a list of your collection first so that he could give you an idea of their overall worth. This way you don't have to waste time and it would make the process go quickly.
Description of Work: My father left me a box of silver and 2 gold coins, as well as some "proof" sets (sort of looked like gift sets). This collection had been taking up space in my safe deposit box and I had wanted to sell it off. I knew nothing about coins and their worth. Brad Leifer was the only Numismatist listed here on Angie's list so I took a look at his web site. I was quite impressed based on several testimonials, especially one that was from a person who was also left a collection by their parent. Furthermore, I noticed that he would have coin collections mailed to him for sale. I then got in touch with Mr. Leifer and we had several email exchanges. He let me know if any were worth something (or as he put it, if any were "lottery winners" or not). As it turned out, the majority was pretty much worth their silver content. I eventually made an appointment to bring the coins to Mr. Leifer so that he could take a look. He carefully reviewed my collection and reconfirmed that they were worth their silver content. He double checked the silver rate for that day. He then calculated their worth and came up with a figure. After double checking the figures, he wrote me a check for the amount. This process took approximately a half hour to 45 minutes.
