We had a gut renovation on our bathroom, and used United Tile as our supplier. They were very helpful with design suggestions, and worked closely with our contractor (Frank Cosco) for delivery. We were very pleased with the options available in their showroom, and with the suggestions they provided. The bathroom came out beautifully; we couldn't be happier. Strongly recommend Carrie and Eddie at United Tile!

Worked with Eddie at the store who was great in helping us choose a white sparkling quartz counter top. They had a remnant piece of the quartz available so we feel like the price was reasonable for the counter top and back splash. The off brand sink was priced a little high at $200. We paid about $900 for the installation and removal of the old formica top. The ordering process was smooth. They were very quick to take our order and all of the money for the order up front. However the installation was frustrating. We had a total of 4 or 5 appointments scheduled that ended up in no shows. I informed the store (including Eddie and various other staff members) over and over again about what was happening but still no improvements. At one point Eddie forgot that he included the back splash in our order so that delayed things even further. When the guys finally arrived they were pleasant. They also seemed to do decent work in an appropriate time frame. But after 5 no shows I have a hard time seeing the silver lining. I would not recommend this company. If you do decide to take a chance on them be sure to get everything in writing and call the day before your scheduled appointment to make sure the guys show up.

I walked into the store with a sample of my cabinet door, my tile backsplash, and a quartz countertop sample which matched the undertone of my backsplash and decor. I asked Mary Lou if they sold any quartz countertops with the same undertone, but fewer speckles. Mary Lou chose a countertop with a completely different undertone...yellow green instead of reddish-purple. She convinced me this would be a better choice.
Once the countertop was installed, it was clear that I'd made a horrible mistake. The color looked horrible in my space. I should not have allowed myself to be persuaded by Mary Lou to select the wrong color. I take responsibility for my poor choice.
However, I advise everyone to avoid United Tile in Watertown for the following reasons:
1) You will get terrible advise from color blind sales staff.
i2) My contractor called Mary Lou to ask her a question about the seam in my countertop. Mary Lou didn't realize the phone was on speaker phone, so that I could hear her. When my contractor told Mary Lou that he was working for me, Mary Lou sneered, "oh, her" , and she laughed/snorted in a very condescending manner, which my contractor noticed as well.
3) Be prepared to not have your installation questions answered until the actual day of the installation. Every question I asked regarding seam placement, etc. was treated as an annoyance. Now that I am dealing with another countertop installer who treats me with respect and takes the time to answer my questions, the contrast is remarkable. In short, the staff at United Tile will treat you like you are just a nuisance--instead of a valued customer-- once they have your money.
4) Here's the biggie: THIS STORE CHARGES ALMOST TWICE AS MUCH AS THEIR COMPETITORS FOR THE EXACT SAME PRODUCTS AND SERVICES. After a few weeks, I decided I could not live with the ugly countertop. So, I shopped around and found a more suitable countertop. I got three quotes on that same exact countertop from United Tile and 2 other (highly rated, not Home Depot) quartz countertop vendors/installers. United Tile quoted me $5,300 versus the two other places quoted me $2,700-$2,900 for the exact same brand, model number, dimensions, etc.
5) I asked United Tile to please remove the countertop so that I could replace it with a more suitable countertop. They told me they'd charge me $400 to do this, versus their competitor was willing to do this for free.
So, in short, you can do MUCH better price wise and service wise to shop elsewhere.

The workers were all fabulous. They were one of the best I've worked with. They worked with us on the price. They were flexible with timing. I think they provided a good quality of service and material and they were exceptionally nice. For all three things, it was probably $3500. They were great.

Right away I liked Eddie Souto, but of course I withheld final judgement until the job was done. I was not disappointed; in fact, I could not have been more pleased.
Each time I visited United Tile America, Watertown, I received courteous, upbeat attention from Eddie (owner) and his brother Hermann. Their large two-floor showroom offered myriad possibilities, and their expert knowledge of granite, quartz, natural stone, marble, and tile helped me select not only appropriate materials but also attractive combinations.
All aspects of their service were prompt and professionally executed. They went out of their way to find pieces/designs that I had in mind. They accommodated my changes of mind. They kept to their promised schedule. They accepted the return of packaged unused materials and reimbursed me for them.
And all of this with courtesy and a smile.

Mary Lou helped me choose the tile. She allowed me to take home samples and showed me numerous options. She was friendly, professional, and responsive. She also booked the installation promptly.
Unfortunately, the installation didn't go as smoothly. Arrival times were given and the installer was late both days.
I later learned that the measurements were not taken accurately. The installer had to leave after he arrived to drive to the distributor's warehouse to get more tiles. Long story short, there was a lot of waiting around (hours), wondering what was going on, and honest explanations were given later.
On the bright side, the backsplash looks good. The morning after the installation, I did notice that a few tiles were poorly cut, some grout was sloppy, and we found tile remnants thrown in 2 different areas of our yard.
Unfortunately, United sent someone to our home who caused us to wait around for hours and who ultimately trashed our yard.
The owner seemed to have trusted an installer who should never be allowed in/around one's home again.
Importantly, United apologized whole-heartedly and the owner came over immediately with another installer to fix the job. He was very kind, apologized, and tried hard to make things right. We're happy with the backsplash now.
We'll be replacing the soil where the tile dust and garbage was thrown once the ground thaws.
Bottom line -
Ask a lot of questions about who will be installing your tile or granite and make sure it's a highly regarded, professional, respectful person entering your home.

Response from United Tile America
"First of all, thank you for taking the time to review our business. Constant feedback is important for continuous improvment in our business. We truly regret that the installation process did not go smoothly for you. It is our aim to provide the highest quality of service at all times. Based on this experience we have instituted several changes. The installer referenced was terminated based on unprofessional behavior that is not in line with our company standards. We have also employed a new person who will be responsible for closer oversite of all installation jobs, so that we are better aware of issues in real time and to insure that our standards will be upheld. Again, thank you for your feedback and hope that you are enjoying your new backsplash. Eddie"

The purchase of the actual material went very well, Eddie, the owner, had a good eye and helped us make a great choice picking out both the backsplash for the kitchen and tile for the bathroom. The actual quality of the material was excellent and the prices were reasonable and competitive.
The actual installation through this company was an absolute nightmare. The backsplash had to be redone because the installers did a sloppy, awful job- cracked tiles, grouting was inconsistent, tiles were uneven. We had to continuously go over it each time they would 'fix' it and point out again and again things they had done wrong or missed. In the end, the entire thing had to be redone.
Same with the bathrooms, the installers just destroyed the marble tile. They installed it unevenly and then when we pointed it out to them they bought some machine that sanded the whole floor down and in the process destroyed the marble. So all the marble had to be broken up, new marble purchased and then re-installed.
A job that we were told was going to take a week at the most ended up taking over a month. And after a few weeks when we asked Eddie what was going on and to change the installers, he got very upset, told us he wished he had not taken this job, that he was doing his best and that we should hire someone new to finish up the job! Which of course wasn't an option as this had already taken too long and we probably wouldn't be able to find another installer who would take up a job that was half done.
To Eddie's credit, he got the job done in the end, answered our phone calls and texts and tried to resolve the situation as best as he could given that the issue had been entirely from the installer he had hired. He replaced the broken tile at his own expense and eventually got another installer to get the job completed and came over several times to make sure everything was being done properly and was profusely apologetic.
i would probably go back to this company to buy material, probably not to get anything installed.

We are completing a kitchen and bathroom renovation and needed a granite remnant for the bathroom. The main fabricator we were using for the kitchen did not have a remnant for the type of granite we chose for the kitchen. We knew nothing aboutchoosing or installing granite and needed to be walked through step-by-step. We discovered that all fabricators charge steep prices for remnants and installation. United had several pieces of the granite that we liked. The salespeople were very responsive and the templating date was set quickly. The templater arrived early on the day agreed upon and spoke little English, I had to beseech him to wait for our contractor, because I had never seen granite go in before and was worried about where the sink would go relative to the faucet and the wall. We were never asked if we wanted to see where the template was going to be put on the piece, which we later found out is fairly standard practice. This was a small remnant not much larger than the space it was needed for, however there was a prominent quartz vein on one side that we didn't love and would have liked to see go in the back so it would be against the wall and not on the edge facing into the powder room. We even discussed with the remnant person hiding it in the back or under the sink. The piece was cut and we were never asked for input on this (which side this quartz vein should go on).
The delivery was made promptly, and I should add that the United salesperson (Kristen) was amazingly available by phone and email, it was actually very impressive. On the day of delivery the piece was installed, I think some scratches to paint are inevitable but there was a large gauge in our newly installed bead board. I also saw the quartz vein right in the front instead of the back. I immediately called Kristen (5/31) and left a voice mail to discuss the damage to the bead board which needs to be repaired and also sent and email photo of the quartz vein with my dismay that this area was faced outward. The piece is very unique and we would not have sent it back, but I did feel that because this was a small job we were not given the same consideration that a larger job would have been given (namely, we now realize that clients are usually asked to see the template on the piece before it's cut but we just learned this when our kitchen counters were cut by another fabricator last week).
Perhaps there was an explanation and the piece could only have been cut that one way? But I never received a call back to discuss or apologize for the bead board damage. After the prompt responsiveness by email and phone previously it seemed odd not to at least get a return call, instead yesterday we received a receipt for the final half of the payment, Kristen had just gone ahead and put the balance through on the credit card given for a deposit without any kind of follow up. I was very disappointed by this and would like to warn other potential clients that the service for the price was not good and this behavior is not professional. The piece, apart from the placement of the quartz vein, is very beautiful but there was a feeling of "take the money and run."

When my husband contracted with them he asked them for the excess when they cut the granite to put on a cabinet in the back hall. We knew there would be excess and they gave us nothing. He was not happy with that. They had to come back and fix something and they were not happy about that. The job was good but when someone is not happy when they have to come back and fix something you don't feel very comfortable. But their work was decent. The price was good considering others.

We went to United Marble Fabricators office and chose the piece of marble we wanted from the stock. They gave us thorough information on the stone's characteristics and how it would look after polished. They showed us samples, gave us granite and marble pieces to bring home and see which ones matched our room best. They were extremely helpful and effective. We loved it.

UTA has a huge selection of tile and came highly recommended from friends and our contractor. Kristen was exceptional from the moment we began working with her on our project. She was extremely knowledgeable, incredible patient, very friendly, and she worked with us as along as we needed to make a choice with which we were comfortable. The tile arrived in the promised time frame, and the customer service was excellent.

The overall job went very well. The whole process was smooth and straightforward, from selecting the granite in the showroom in Watertown, measuring the existing countertop, removal of the countertop, and installation. We went with them since they handled everything from the cutting of the granite to the removal and installation. (When I checked with Home Depot, e.g., they couldn't do the removal of the existing countertop and installation of the new countertop in one sitting. With United Tile/Marble, they were able to do both things in the same morning). Additionally, the whole process went according to schedule, which was nice we wanted everything to be set in place before we moved in. From start to finish, it took two weeks.
