During the first winter of the roof there was no snow accumulation and we encountered no problems with the roof. Following the first big snow storm the roof faced (February 2013) we found two leaks. The company stood behind their installation. Rich Mellow came over the next day, cleared the ice d*** and made suggestions for correcting the problem. When all the snow cleared off the roof Newton Roofing came back to fix and caulk areas on the roof. In the next snow storm there was no sign of any leak. While the original ice d*** and leak were a disappointment, we are very pleased with the company's responsiveness and their standing by their installation.

Staff responded quickly, gave a fair estimate. Scheduled the work within two weeks. Completed the job quickly and were pleasant and accommodating.

My experience with them was good. I'd use them again. They got back to us in a timely manner. They had to change the date, but at least they notified us and told us why. So, their communication was good.

Not the lowest price quoted, but we hired them for the peace of mind of dealing with a very professional company. Rich was very respondent, always replying emails first thing in the morning. There were some miscommunications during the job (they knocked down our power fan by mistake), but it was corrected quickly and free of charge. The roofs look like they can last for a long while. At least they've stood the test of Sandy!

I called them up the following day and they replaced the shingles. They were very responsive because of the storm.

I called Newton Roofing and scheduled an inspection to get a quote. Rich Melo came out at the appointed time. He was very professional, did a thorough job inspecting the damage and the garage roof, and talked me through what he had seen. Two days later I received the proposal/quote for the work. It all seemed quite reasonable and I had just one question and was then intending to hire them for the work. Because the damage actually resulted in a leak in the roof, it is important that this gets done right away. Rich returned my first call, leaving a message. Unfortunately, after this I have not been heard from the company. I did get a hold of the main office and was given Rich's cell phone number but to no avail. Approximately one week later I am still waiting return contact. I can certainly understand that due to Hurricane Sandy, the company is probably quite busy and there are places worse off than I. Still, receiving no contact seems unprofessional. Update: they have now returned my call illustrating, perhaps, the power of reviews! To give them the benefit of the doubt, it is equally likely that they called of their own accord, unprompted by the review.

They were wonderful. The man that came out, got upon the roof, inspected everything, and gave us a lot of advice. It was a girl that came and did the flashing. They worked very efficiently and did a great job as far as I can tell. They were very responsive. I had a couple of other people comment on it. This man was kind and helpful. He gave us a lot of advice about insulationand that sort of thing. I definitely will use them again in the future.

I had Newton Roofing out to do an estimate on some roof repairs prior to having solar panels installed. The guy who came mentioned that they were just getting in to solar, so I was interested in getting an estimate from him - I just had 1 other estimate at the time, but knew I needed some roof repair first. He out seemed very good, and spent lots of time going over various options, with and without solar, with me. He said it would take 2 weeks to get an estimate back to me, because they would have to come and do more measurements for solar. After 2-1/2 weeks, I hadn't heard from them, so called the office. The guy I spoke to was aware of the job, and said they just needed a copy of a recent electric bill (even though I had given them one when they first came out). I emailed him a copy right away, and he said they would get back to me in a few days. After another week, I still hadn't heard back, so called again. I spoke to the office manager, who was also aware of the job. I made clear that I was very serious about doing solar work, but needed to move forward and couldn't wait much longer for the estimate. He was very apologetic, and promised to get back to me within a couple of days. I never heard from them again. I understand if they're just getting into solar, that maybe things are complicated and might take longer than expected. But the professional thing to do is contact the client and let them know what's going on, not just ignore them

First meeting was on time, and the work and the estimate were spelled out clearly. After the decision was made, the workers showed up exactly at the day and time written in the contract. The work was completed when promised, and the work site was cleared. A slight 'problem' was corrected a few days later. We were very impressed with the professionalism of the workers and the company.

We signed up with these guys over several competitors because the estimator, one Glenn Wollenhaupt, was so pleasant to deal with. Glenn also made some good suggestions about both efficient alternatives for some materials and methods, and also a way to slide insulation in over the existing internal sheathing so we could save energy without ripping out the cathedral ceiling. I specifically asked if he could supervise the job for us, and he agreed to do that. The roofing job went generally OK, so far as I could tell. Cleanup could have been better, but they did try, and it's messy work. Unfortunately, the first rainstorm revealed a serious leak around the chimney. The company made some repairs and extended the flashing, but it still leaked. Glenn himself returned with various materials and ripped back both roof and flashing, re-did a significant area, ,and even did some repointing and sealing on the brickwork in case the chimney itself might be letting moisture in. Seemed fine when we sold the house. I probably wouldn't hire Newton Roofing again, given the leak they left this time. A relative also had problems with them in another town, with rude behavior, damage to plants, sloppy work, etc. But if I were to hire them, I'd insist that Glenn be the quality-control inspector as well as project supervisor. He made it OK, in this case.

I thought everyone, both crew and supervisors, were professional and polite. I panicked when they had not started a section of the roof by the end of the first day, but, it turned out that since they could not finish they did not want to leave any part of the roof exposed overnight. They finished the job the next morning. We have had heavy rain, and so far so good.

They are very responsive. They even came out when it was raining and made sure that the job got fixed. They were also friendly, prompt, and did everything that they were supposed to do. I would highly recommend them.

The job was done on the appointed day according to the agreement, followed by a magnificent cleanup. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I'm very satisfied.

They came the day it was scheduled (weather permited). The team was extremely nice and performed a very clean job. It was a pleasant experience and we will call them as soon as we have a roof problem.

They were honest and fast. They were a little slow in answering the phone but once I got them, their work was good. The most important thing is, they’re honest and fast. I spent $1700 on their services. Their price was fair. I don’t know much about the prices on that. I will use them again in the future if I need to.

We selected 4 roofing contractors from Angie's List and received site inspections and quotes. Newton Roofing (General Manager - Rich), was the only company that didn't just measure the perimeter of the house, but acutally got up on the roof and and did due dilligence to determine the real problem areas. In a short time we recieved a very thorough report, quote and all prepared within a nice presentation folder with other information about house roofing. Rich was extremely patient with me as I went through each and every item (product) they were to use and helped me clearly understand the difference between various products...which helped me make better choices. The crew promplty arrived as scheduled and the Project Manager, Chris was very responsible. From start to finish, there was minimal inconvenience. They did a great job protecting the house and grounds. Clean up was excellent and they came back a few more times for us to fix a few items which we had previously agreed to...(replacement of some vinyl siding slats). They checked in with us to make certain that we were satisfied and if there was anything else that needed to be taken care of. The other issue I really appreciated was when the shingle color was selected by me and arrived at the site. I realized I had chosen an inappropriate color. Rich immediately made the necessary calls and within a few hours was able to get another color for me....and it didn't really delay the project too much. I thought that was fantastic customer support....especially that it was my error. We also appreciated that without asking they made certain that we were left with some remaining pallets of shingles. An amazing roof job....our house looks fabulous!

These guys are great, from the intial estimate and inspection, a very thorough job, leading to a complete quote, providing feedback to us on color and options, even sites nearby they completed to see other roof styles on homes. They communicated very well, stage product well, on time, cleaned up thoroughly, everything better than we could expect from a new roof.

They did a great job. One of the reasons we joined Angie's List was we found out that they were on it. They were quick and got it done in less than three days. They didn't leave a thing and they brought any adjustments to our attention immediately. The staff was courteous and responsive. They did daily clean-up. I needed to get access in and out and they were responsive to that. I think that I got a good price; however, I probably could have paid less with someone else but not received as good a service. It was a service versus price issue. Their price was certainly not the best out there but their service was outstanding.

They were nice people. I had them stop in the middle because they were trying to sell me a new roof but no one else told me that I needed a new roof. I had a leak that wrecked the ceiling in my house so I called them to ask where they were. They were late so it got worse. I think they fixed the roof but then they went to fix other parts of my slate roof which is when they told me that I should get a new roof. They used the wrong colored slate on the part of the roof that they fixed. They were nice, but they weren’t very good. If I hadn’t talked to other roofers I would have been out of a lot of money.

They were very good. They were prompt in returning calls, came when they said they were going to come, did the job at the quoted price, very clean, very professional, and I have only good things to say.

Person doing estimate was courteous, professional and prompt. Actual service seemed to be okay, though understandably the job was a bit more complex. My primary complaint, however, is the lack of responsiveness and attention after the work order was put in. I was initially told that I was on the schedule and that I would get a call when the work would be done. Multiple weeks went by without any word from the company. I called to check on the schedule, and I was told that I would be put on the schedule right away, which seemed strange. Then, the day the work was to be done, I was told that the roofers would come by at 7:30AM. However, after I waited until 10:00AM, I called to check on what was going on. Only then did people finally show up, about an hour after the call. After all this and after the work was completed, I called to ask some follow up questions. I have called 4 days in a row, without a call call back. To be fair, the company did not charge extra even though the job was a bit more complex. However, I am merely assuming this to be the case as no one called me back to discuss or to confirm. In fact, one time I called to check on the invoice, and someone told me that someone else would call me back about it. Of course no one did. I called back the next day and the person in charge of the invoice said that she had no idea that I had called about the invoice and that she wished that she had known. I now have the invoice, though I have no explanation of what happened and why.

Since we did not hire them, we can only state that their sales rep was a true professional.
