We were purchasing a new home and were alerted to ice dams by our inspector. We had Rich from Newton Roofing come out, met us exactly when he promised, and described the work needed to be done. The inspector estimated a 10,000 dollar repair, but the estimate was as above. The roofers who did the work were prompt, hard-working, brought me on the roof to show me something previously undiscovered (a rotting roof board), and very nice. We are very happy with the work and would strongly recommend Newton Roofing to all who need it.

As with any major home repair/update project, there were a few relatively minor snags along the way, but Rich and his team were prompt, attentive, patient, and accommodating to every request & concern we had. They were the second highest of our 4 bids, but given how easy it was to deal with them overall, we're very glad we went with them! This was the only firm to actually go up on the roof, examine and identify the source of a leak, etc. They even tackled special requests without hesitation. Thanks!

Excellent experience. Spoke with Rich who was able to get a work crew out to the house the next day to address the missing shingles, which was especially helpful because of heavy rain forecasted. Rich was transparent on pricing for the shingle replacement. Crew left additional shingles for future replacement if necessary. Rich followed up the following day with a clear and detailed explanation (complete with emailed photos) of the potential root cause of the winter icejams and suggested 2 alternatives to mitigate risk in the future w/pricing. Emailed me the bill at my request. Would definitely do business with them again.

It was such a great experience working with Richard Melo and his crew. I called on a Tuesday afternoon and received a call back from Richard within 30 minutes (after talking to a very friendly young lady answering the phone). He told me that he could have a crew stop by the house the same afternoon and take a look at what needed to be done. He said that if they happened to have the right type of shingle with them, they could do the repairs right away. It turned out that they had to order the shingle but Richard gave me a call to give me an update of what was happening and when we could expect the work to be done. The singles arrived earlier than he had thought and the repairs were done the same day. As for the cost, he said that he would replace up to about a dozen shingles for 250USD (which is their minimum charge). If more needed to be replaced, he would let me know. After the work was done, he called me to follow up. He let me know that the roof probably would need to be replaced soon as it is getting old, but that the repairs have been made. In the process of finding a roofing company I called 10 companies, only half of which gave me a call back (even though they were all rated A on Angieslist) and in general it took them 3-5 days to return my call. Newton Roofing definitely deserves an A on Angieslist as their customer service as well as quality of work are impeccable. I have already recommended them to a co-worker who will contact them to get a quote for a new roof today!

The first problem was that the company was sold and the level of service was not maintained. They sub-contracted the jobs out to other companies. I have not had a good experience with the gutters and they have had me deal with this one lady. They have been having problems with going from wooden gutters to metal ones. They have been out 3 times to fix the problem and they are still working on them. Some of the people are professional and responsive and some are not.

They were realistic about my problem with my roof. They were also polite and courteous. I went with the other company because this estimate was too hight.

Tough to get an estimate, but they eventually provided a detailed estimate and showed up on time to complete the work. Cleaned up after themselves. Work quality seems good.

A copper birdbath got broken, one of our hedges had a number of broken branches, and the aluminum siding was badly dented in a few places where they had been installing flashing. They finished most of the work the in one day, but needed to come back to finish working on the gutters. When I got up on the ladder to check the work, they had only installed three gutter hangers on one side of the roof instead of every 2 ft around the entire perimeter. When I went into the attic there were four places where they had broken the roof decking and neglected to fix it. On the plus side, Rich took all of these problems seriously and fixed everything that needed to be taken care of. So, they ultimately did everything they needed to, but they had to come back three times and it was a bit frustrating. My suggestion would be to have someone at the house watching the crew very carefully so you catch any problems as they occur. It may be that there was just one of two sloppy workers on the crew we got.

Came quickly to give estimate. Responded to clarifying calls in timely matter. Estimated work would start within month and it did. Took 2 days plus, and they came back to finish a small detail. They were neat and left no mess. Workmanship was good, although I suppose you don't know until it's tested. We were pleased by customer service and what looked like quality work. The house looks good. They're price was lower than other 2 estimates, as the range was 13-11.

We originally asked for a repair quote, based on a leak over our dining room. It took a bit of chasing, but we did get that. Then we asked what a full roof would cost (repair quote was around $2K). I had to call them a number of times before I got a quote, and although the office person was lovely on the phone (Amanda), it took some time to get the quote, which was prepared by ''Tom''. I think I may have spoken to Tom once on the phone, but they didn't follow up, nor did they ask us for add'l info. The quote was prepared simply by looking at the house from the outside (and they never went up on the roof - my Mom lives downstairs and she would know). Although the price quote was lower than the roofer we chose, we were concerned that ''unforeseen conditions'' would arise during the actual job that would push this price higher. Plus, they didn't pursue our business, so we assumed they might have been too busy.

They came out to give an estimate. They gave a ballpark of $17K to 25k, but said I am really not good at estimating. I did wonder why a person who is not good at estimating was sent out on a request to provide an estimate. They put ladders up to look at the roof but never went up on the roof. They said they would have an estimate to me in a week. After a week, I called and they said the guy who was supposed to give me an estimate had a death in the family, and I would see it in a week. Another week goes by, and I leave a voice mail and send an email but no response. I was ready to spend $25k, but apparently they are so busy they do not need my business. I would have preferred them to tell me my job was too small. I would not say Newton Roofing is a straight talk shop.

VERY HAPPY WITH SERVICE- RESPONDED PROMPTLY, DID NEEDED WORK AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

ASKED FOR AN ESTIMATE FOR A REROOFING JOB. MIKE CAME TO INSPECT THE ROOF (ON THE DATE AND TIME, JUST AS HE SAID ON THE PHONE). MIKE IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE BUT DID NOT SEEM ALL TOO INTERESTED IN THE PROJECT (SMALL RESIDENTIAL). HE DID SEND OVER HIS QUOTE BUT IT WAS HIGHER THAN WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. I ENDED UP CHOOSING ANOTHER CONTRACTOR (ALSO ON ANGIE'S LIST) WITH A LOWER QUOTE.

NEWTON ROOFING WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. WE HAD TO WAIT A COUPLE OF MONTHS TO GET TO THE FRONT OF THEIR QUEUE, BUT ONCE THEY FINALLY CALLED TO SCHEDULE A DATE THEY WERE PROMPT AND EFFICIENT. WE HAD TO ASK THEM TO REPLACE A STORM WINDOW WHICH THEY BROKE AND THEY ALSO HAD TO RETURN TO INSTALL A SHINGLE VENT WHICH THEY FORGOT TO INSTALL. HOWEVER, IN BOTH CASES THEY WERE PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL.

NO CALL BACK EVER. CALLED AND LEFT TWO MESSAGES BEGGING FOR A CALL BACK BECAUSE I HAD A HOLE IN MY ROOF. I TRIED TO TEMPT THEM TO CALL SAYING THAT I WOULD BE GETTING A NEW ROOF SOON, BUT JUST NEEDED A REPAIR RIGHT NOW. NO CALL BACK EVER. INCONSIDERATE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I AM GETTING A NEW ROOF IN THE NEXT 2 YEARS AND WILL NOT CONSIDER THIS COMPANY.

THE USUAL DELAYS, DUE TO OVERWORK AND WEATHER, BUT THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE ROOF IN 3 DAYS. THE GUTTERS REQUIRED A RETURN VISIT TO REPAIR A BADLY INSTALLED SECTION, BUT THEY DID THAT QUITE PROMPTLY.
