It is good. There were smaller glitches. Their masonry is really good quality. It's 14 times than what I wanted to pay but it's that kind of job so it's realistic. They were good, they did important work, and they did it well. They were good quality so they were worth it. There were no problems with their punctuality.

John Boland, the contractor at Fitzgerald Restoration, did a marvelous job of coordinating the key personnel to finish the project and meet our deadline.  John is a no nonsense individual with a high work ethic and a sense of responsibility that quite frankly was beyond measure.  He wasn't afraid to hold the carpenters to a high level of craftsmanship, time management and output.  I would also find him on the weekends completing some work by himself in order to ensure all projects were completed in a professional and on time manner.  My wife and I have been in the house now for 6 months and have had no issues around the work that was done.  It was an excellent job and I am happy we hired Fitzgerald Restoration and that they assigned John to our house.

I would say just alright. As we neared the agreed upon start date a couple of my calls were not returned. When work did began it went well. The contractor even did a few extra things which was appreciated. I was asked to pay the balance of the job before it was complete, which I was uncomfortable with but complied with. Also, I was not expecting the damage to my yard caused by the truck tires.
Response from Fitzgerald Restoration Services
"I am sorry that you feel that Fitzgerald Restoration Services Inc only deserves a C rating. We gave you a very good discount on the work and it was completed in a professional and timely manner. To my recollection we had very good communication before and during the completion of your work and although the concrete truck left some tire tracks on what in actual fact is an unfinished driveway we did rectify this as much as was possible and to your satisfaction at the time. We did ask if you could leave a check for us on the morning of the final day as it was the bank holiday weekend but the work had already been completed and we were going back to do a final cleanup."

I contacted about ten contractors in the hope that they could give me a dry basement.  Most dodged me, and those that showed up to look at the work were more handy men who I felt were really not up to the job.  Derek Fitzgerald seemed to know what I needed right from the start.  The work was completed on time, in about a week and now almost six months later, I'm very happy to have a very dry basement in my 1892 home.

The only snag was that the foundation walls were in bad shape and required quite a bit of additional mortar which jacked up the price by about $1,000.

The FRS work crew worked hard and kept the work areas clean.

Bid expanded to include pointing on chimney.  Final cost was significantly higher than original estimate but workmanship appears to be excellent.   (Roof workers (separate project) complimented the flashing job done on the chimney).  Team was punctual and courteous and also threw in some free work on a retaining wall as part of the deal.  Would work with them again.

I had a very positive experience with this contractor.  He was responsive, punctual and professional.  He patiently answered my questions even when it necessitated a 2nd visit  and a few e-mails from me in order for me to review the specs of my job.  He was flexible and very easy to work with.  Knew what he was doing and could explain the elements of the work in a clear way.

His crew came when they were scheduled too and finished the job professionally and artistically. The crew took pride in their work and there were no short cuts even though the project was finished one day early.  I can be fussy and a perfectionist and I loved how the project looks.  .

Fair pricing as well and a good clean up job. l met with 5 contractors and Fitzgerald Construction was the best for me.

Work was performed over a three day period. Job site was left broom clean at end of each work day Finish work acceptable for a utility area. Workers were friendly, however, I had some difficulty in communicating with the workers, who spoke limited English. Owner/ Primary Contact returned calls promptly, and is courteous and professional. I would recommend hiring this firm to complete well defined, small projects of easy to moderate complexity.

I hired Fitzgerald, because they had a good quote price and were responsive in answering all of my questions effectively. Derrick had a good understanding of the project requirements immediately, like he'd done it a thousand times. They apparently had a large job starting the following week, so they were able to start early and finish faster than expected. We have an +800sf basement and they were complete in 4.5 days. One area was not accessible because of scheduling of other work, so he credited the bill a little for what they could not complete. They did a great job and we would look at hiring again if ever needed.

Derrick Fitzgerald was quick to respond to come out for a free estimate. His price stayed within that estimate and he was willing to negotiate down slightly. He had to delay the timing of the work due to another job, but promptly notified us. His workers were respectful. The work done looks great. My only complaint is that since our building is on a steep hill, one side of the wall on the side of the stairs was exposed. Since the stones used are not square but angled in on the sides one side of the wall looked unfinished. We asked him to fix it and he suggested putting in plants to cover it up. We were not satisfied with this so they did come back out and smooth is over with concrete/stucco at no extra cost. Overall, we were very satisfied with the professionalism, craftsmanship and price of his work. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

The first thing that impressed me was that when Derrick Fitzgerald came out to look at the job, he understood right away everything that had to be done. When we went over all the parts of the job, I felt confident that we both understood what was entailed in the same way. This turned out to be true because all the different parts of the job were done the way I wanted. In addition, he came in when he said he would and finished in good time. The cellar stayed dry during a recent heavy rainstorm. The patios and sidewalk are beautifully done. Removal of the old cement was included in the price of the job. In general, they were extremely neat with all parts of the job. I appreciated that they did a variety of things well.
