They attempted to clean and salvage the original, but it was too corroded. They had a new cylinder in stock that, with slight modification, fit the door. Works perfectly.

Sherman lock was great from start to finish.  We visited the store on Moody St. to discuss our options and choose tumblr styles to replace aging brass / cheap lock sets. Installation was done quickly and professionally. Sherman even accommodated our request to make a small change on one door after the original service call. Excellent work and price.

Very friendly and responsive service.  Re-built the cylinder for less than expected.

No complaints about Sherman Lock. Jeff was responsive and the locksmith showed up right on time to perform the work. Jeff was helpful early on in picking a keypad lock, and even went to the house to check the existing locks when he suspected the color we were going to choose would not match the existing handles.

1. Had to get a new one and new keys: the old one was obsolete. The price was fine and they explained the issues clearly.
2. The old car keys were worn and cut badly. They re-keyed the cylinder to match the old keys and cut new keys that work well. They explained this well to my mechanic, who relayed it to me.

When I initially called them, they spent a good deal of time on the phone walking me through some things I could try myself, although in the end a service call was still needed.  The service person removed the jammed lock without damaging the door, then installed a replacement.  It was a relatively simple operation for someone who knew what he was doing, which he did.  I thought the charge was reasonable:  $70 for a service call, $25 labor, $47 for a new basic lockset, $3 tax.

They were too busy to come immediately when I first called - the earliest appointment I could get was about a week later.  I was able to wait, even though the door was jammed shut, as we mostly use other doors anyway.  They showed up on time for the appointment, and the service person was friendly and professional.

The locks were the wrong size so extra holes needed to be made in my doors.  I had to have them all repainted.  Jeff said he would compensate me for this by bolting down our safe at no charge the following week  (this job was supposed to be completed when the locks were installed, but was not).  After waiting two weeks I called, but my call was not returned and no one ever came to bolt down the safe.  We had someone else do it.

I called Sherman Lock on a Monday and scheduled an appointment for Friday morning. The locksmith came exactly at the beginning of the appointment time. He quickly took apart the locks, re-keyed them, and made new keys in his truck. Mike was fast, friendly, and professional. I would definitely call them again if I ever needed a locksmith.

Was available on late notice, was prompt on the day of our appointment, was thorough and fair on price. And was personally incredibly nice and easy to deal with. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

The old mortise lock on our side door never worked well. It doesn't quite line up with the strike plate, making the key hard to turn. A previous locksmith pronounced it "unfixable" without removing all the weatherstripping from the door, which would let in cold air. Mike from Sherman Lock evaluated the situation and agreed with the previous locksmith, but said he'd "see what he can do." The end result is fantastic: the lock turns like butter!
Our screen door knob kept coming loose every few weeks. Mike removed the original screws and substituted better ones. I know it sounds simple, but I didn't think of it!
A week after Mike's visit, the mortise lock started jamming, so I called Sherman Lock. Mike came by the same day and fixed it even better.  It's now been a month and everything's still working great!
This was not my first experience with Sherman Lock -- they also replaced a large mortise several years ago. I am very happy with their work and their customer service -- if there's a problem, they will keep coming back until everything is satisfactory.

Mike (52 years with the company) was friendly, cordial and talked me through what he was doing.  He had to remove and disassemble the mortise unit after trying simpler repairs first.  He found a completely broken spring inside the mortise unit, removed and replace it with a new one, reassembled the lock, re-installed the interior doorknob and tightened all screws. Once all was assembled, he found that the bottom of the door was binding at the bottom door frame.  He then tightened all hinge screws in both the frame and the door, retested and had me check it. The lock and the door operation are now far better than they have been in years.  I was thrilled with his work.

If and when I have problems with any lock, I will go straight to Sherman Lock.  Great experience!

Had a great experience with Sherman Lock.  I picked them off Angie's List and am glad I did.  We had a broken lock on our back door for months.  Finally got around to calling about it.  I set up an appointment and then was out when the locksmith arrived.  I called and apologized.  They were understanding and we set up another appointment.  The locksmith arrived within the window promised and repaired the lock quickly with parts from his truck.  Great work, and they didn't charge me extra for missing the first appointment!  I would use them again.

This was the most delightful father and son team. As noted, the locks on both doors were malfunctioning. They repaired both very efficiently, were extremely pleasant, and made me new keys which also work perfectly (part of the problem had been caused by the wrong blank keys  some key duplication place had made).
Real old world craftsmanship and honesty -- great experience.

When I called, the person who answered the phone was pleasant and helpful and set up an appointment for the next day.  The locksmith showed up exactly on time, removed the lock, repaired it in his truck and now it works perfectly.
