They did a great job fixing my mower. It took about a week and $100, and now my mower works, so I'm happy.

I was referred to Sal Ferro by Troy-Bilt for warranty service on a snowblower. The snowblower was new but didn't run properly because of a problem with the carburetor (you could start it, but turning down the choke to run it would cause the engine to die). I didn't want to bring it back to Lowe's for service, because it was Lowe's that assembled it and delivered it without bothering to make sure it actually worked so I didn't trust them. So Troy-Bilt set something up with Sal.
I received excellent service, especially when one considers that they didn't even sell me the thing and we were in the middle of one of the worst winters Boston has ever experienced and I'm sure Sal was very busy with other customers. They came to pick up the snowblower in two days, and delivered it in working order in another two days. Quick service and plenty of courtesy...what more can you ask for?
There's only one thing I would change about my experience: they didn't make arrangements in advance for the precise pickup and delivery times. Troy-Bilt and Sal agreed on the day they would pick it up, but no time was ever set up and I was expecting a phone call to arrange that...instead they called me at 5:15pm to say they were already on their way to my house to pick it up, so my wife and I had to race home to make sure we got there first. Then when they brought it back they called me at 2pm (while I was at the office) saying they were already in front of my house, wondering where they could leave it. Fortunately they were able to leave it on my patio hidden behind a fence so it wouldn't be attractive to thieves, since I wasn't there to open the garage for them. But this was not a serious issue at all, just an area where there's some room for improvement.
Overall I am very satisfied with my service, and with Spring coming soon I plan to bring my lawnmower to them for a tune-up!

Called in for an estimate on time and received an estimate of at least a week based on it being the busy season for lawn mower repair. I delivered the lawn mower that day, a Wednesday, and received it back the next Wednesday. The carburetor needed to be replaced. All said and done, the mower runs like a champ again. When I picked up the mower I was provided with a gentle, almost fatherly, reminder to not store fuel in the mower over the winter. This was something I 'knew' but didn't really know. Needless to say I get it now.

I had been having problems with oil leaking slowly from my mower. I brought it in for an estimate to see if it was worth repairing. They cleaned it (thoroughly) and tested it, and found no leaks. They said it might have been from overfilling the oil at the beginning of the season. I paid a small amount for the cleaning and test, which was very reasonable (it's cleaner than I've seen it in years), but I would have appreciated to know up front what the cost was. The evaluation took a little longer than I expected, but that was probaly due to the season (everybody else had their mowers in for service).

We had bought a Toro online that stopped working. We took it to Sal Ferro's who looked up whether it was registered for warranty and said that they would call back to let us know what Toro wanted to be done. They added that most likely it would be replaced due to the low value of the machine. They called back in about 2 weeks and asked us to pick up a replacement machine that was new. It took more time as the new machines is shipped by Toro to the store. I went to the store and picked up the new machine - that's it - no hassle.

THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB IN A SHORTER TIME THAN THEY HAD PROMISED. ALTHOUGH I DO NOT OWN A POWER LAWNMOWER, I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO BRING IT TO THEM IF I DID. THE ALSO SELL AND REPAIR EDGERS, BLOWERS, SNOWBLOWERS, ETC.
