I got a recommendation from a friend for A&D Sheet Metal to install a new HVAC system (Carrier Infinity) in July 2016. They seemed to do a good job at the time. Then I asked over and over again for our house keys to be returned to us. They never have. They also charged us for a visit which they claimed was for free and under warranty. Now they won't call me back now that I found out from another HVAC company (Sila for those interested) that they didn't even wire in my EZ-Trap so if it starts to overflow, it won't cut off! If you used A&D Sheet Metal, I'd make sure via a second opinion that they did what they said they would do and collect those keys before they leave!!!

Had multiple bids on this project as well as on the heating system previously reviewed. A few lowball quotes to piggy back onto the new furnace but most contractors said cooling could only be achieved by installing multiple ductless units due to age of home, configuration and size of existing heating ducts. While Arthur agreed that these were all problems he also understood that there wasn't room for a ductless unit on the room most in need of cooling, that of my child with special needs. He thought about the challenge and devised a way to put the cooling system in the attic and run the ducting through the existing walls It was going to be expensive, though really no more than the multiple ductless units recommended by others. Since it was late in the season we'd planned to delay until the following Spring. When the heat came back with a vengeance accompanied by super high humidity (we just moved here from So Calif so not used to humidity) the same week my son had to have surgery with a week or more of recuperation at home I called Arthur, thinking nothing could probably be done since most companies had taken 2-3 weeks to just schedule the estimate. In response to my plight Arthur and his fantastic team began the work the next day and as a result my son was able to recuperate in a blissfully cool environment. Arthur Dubois and his installation staff and his office staff are determined problem solvers. and thoughtful I'm one picky chicky and can't say enough about how outstanding an experience it has been working with all of them.

.I had 7 different HVAC companies bid this job. There were the three I chose based on Angie's List recommendations.Additionally, three contractors here to do other worked noted my corroded heat exchanger and offered bids. All the angie's list top rated HVAC companed did a through job of determining my needs and provided comprehensive competitive bids. The other eager beavers were much less satisfactory and tried to sell stuff as and quot;standardand quot; that was actually contraindicated. All insisted that there were only two ways to accomplish direct venting of a furnace. both would have been ugly and negatively effected the appearance of the house, one way would have been inefficient and the other would have involved opening walls and additional after work repair costs plus a loss of ceiling height. Hearing this six different times had me convinced they were my only options. Then another Angie's list reccomended contractor here to a**** health and air quality in my newly purchased and quot;fixer upperand quot; recommended that I have Arthur Dubois come look at it. Arthur is fantastic. Without knowing what I'd been previously told by HVAC companies he determined a much more appropriate way to vent the furnace. Minimally intrusive, smaller footprint and very efficient. Surprisingly his was also the best price even though his installation design required a lot more work. Frank, the project leader and his team are equally thoughtful in the process of installation. clare in the office is also wonderful to work with. I am an extreemly particular person with high expectations and I was so satisfied I asked Artur to give me a bid for air conditioning as well.

Overall, the job went very well. Problem is the Furnace is not reliable. The number of failures has just exceeded my 20 year old furnace failures in just 5 years and the new furnace failures started just after the first year. I would NOT recommend YORK products until they fix their pressure switch issues!!!
Again, I want to stress Aand D sheetmetal has been providing me good service but I did NOT expect to need so much service so early in the life of the new furnace. The latest failure was today (Oct 12, 2012), the first day the temp will be below freezing in New England.

A and D Sheet Metal Inc

A and D Sheet Metal, were recommended to me by the guys from Envirotest Laboratory. They had to replaced the duct work and get it up to code, and that repaired the leak from the dryers. There was flexible duct work on the dryers and he had to replace it with metal, and he had to redo the exhaust exit out of the building, because that was causing the problem.

Couldn't have been better. A pleasure to have around, conversational, and I really appreciated that he told me he'd been thinking about the problems I had overnight and specifically wanted to check the bypass valve, which was in fact backwards as he thought it might be. Hard to tell if all is truly well, but the summer will bring judgment day. Art did tell me that the unit has been so poked and prodded that there is a good chance it will never return to "normal," but we will see. I do feel he was the most thorough technician we've had here and if he couldn't fix it, I don't think it'll be fixable.

About 3 years ago Aand D had installed this unit in a totally open-wall renovation. While they chose to reuse my existing air handler and compressor, ALL the piping including this drain was new and done by them. At multiple-thousand-dollar prices. The drain, it seems, they constructed by running a 1" PVC line into a 3/8" vinyl tube, which drained into a washer/dryer drain. It is a no-no to shrink tubing in this way, as it may clog and is virtually impossible to run a snake thru. The joint is quite out of reach now without tearing out the walls again. So, when the drain clogged now I called them to fix it. It was indeed repaired adequately, except that I still have the split-sized tubing, which will probably re-clog in a few years. MY problem was with the price. The repairman Marty was here (according to the paperwork I signed at the time) for 2 hours. There were no "parts" needed. When the bill for $325 arrived, I ... well, was outraged. In the first place, it was their shoddy work that caused the problem in the first place and ... $162/hr is way high. I whined and they replied on the unadjusted bill "Marty said this was one of the existing units, not one that we repiped". Well, not exactly. We have only ever had ONE unit. And they absolutely repiped it. 100%. In fact, it was removed and reinstalled in a new location, by them! I re-complained and this time got a call back whining about their cost of living, blah, blah. And an adjusted bill for $276. I'm paying it, but (as you can see) unhappy and badmouthing them. No, I won't call them for any reason in the future! Don't recommend that you do either.

We had a roof top air conditioning unit for our second floor that died at the end of last summer. It was more than 15 years old, so replacement was recommended. Aand D Sheet Metal was recommended by a neighbor. Arthur Dubois (the owner) came to do the estimate, was very professional and knowledgable, took measurements and explained everything clearly. I got 3 additional estimates. Two of the estimates were almost $2000 higher, one was $1000 less, but this one was for a smaller A/C unit than we had originally. We required a crane to lift the old unit off and get the new unit on. Once I accepted the bid, Arthur and his team came early the following Monday with the crane to install the unit. It was quite a sight to see this 2.5 ton air conditioning unit dangling in the air! After replacing the unit, they took measurements, left to make the new duct work, and came back later in the day to complete the installation. Everything was was done in one day and thankfully we had working AC because it was a very hot day! The entire installation was done very professionally without any damage to my roof. The office staff was a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely use them again.

They did a fine job with this. We found the quality of work to be just fine. I didn't get a bunch of quotes, someone gave me their name. They were nice, responsible people. We are very happy with it. We would definitely hire them again.

I would only say the best things about them. They are really reliable and they have been around for a while. They have a good reputation that they live up to. They are prompt about when they show up and I have had no problems with them at all.

Very gruff /surly. Poor customer service. One of the units leaked and even though there was obvious drip stains and even though several people saw it leaking, he tried to claim it was something else. Seems like someone who contractors might deal with but doesn't relate well to actual homeowners, at least that was our experience. Didn't trust him at all, and felt he was rude.
Response from A & D Sheet Metal
"IN 2004, WE WERE SUBCONTRACTORS AND DID INSTALL HEATING AND A/C EQUIPMENT FOR THE BUILDER. IN 2006, WE MADE SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE CUSTOMER’S HOUSE, MANY AT NO CHARGE. AS FOR THE LEAK, I’M SORRY WE COULD NOT FIND A LEAK. WE DID CHECK OUT THE SYSTEM, AND FOUND ALL PRESSURES NORMAL. I’M SORRY THIS WAS NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR YOU. IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW."
