The appointment went well. The waiting area is great. The staff treats us very well. I would tell a friend or family member they have excellent service.

There is a billing chasm between what your local veterinarian will change and what a Tufts (or Angell) will charge but neither is there any comparison between the two (think doctor's office and then hospital). We were told to pay 80% of the estimated service cost upon admission and I gave Tufts a check for more than a thousand dollars. Rather than depositing this, Tufts employs a company called TeleCheck that makes an electronic fund withdrawal (EFW) on the spot but the information on the check falls far short of what TeleCheck claims they need to complete the EFW. As I was standing at the Tufts reception counter, the Tufts receptionist was on the phone taking instructions from a TeleCheck employee and, with other pet owners within earshot, asking me those questions - personal data which I wouldn't share within anyone that I didn't personally know. I declined to provide that data and my check was thus declined. Why would TeleCheck need more data than was on the check itself? Later I went to the Internet and found hundreds of complaints about TeleCheck made to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I found dozens of websites complaining about TeleCheck practices and the treatment they received from their and quot;customer serviceand quot; staff and I then made my way to TeleCheck's website. There I found a and quot;privacy policyand quot;, obviously written by lawyers, loaded with and quot;mayand quot; (which really means and quot;won'tand quot;) that allows TeleCheck to sell any and all information gained in this check cashing process to anyone willing to pay for it - this process is called data-mining. TeleCheck's website does candidly acknowledges that they will also sell this data overseas.
I later e-mailed Tufts and asked for the address of Tufts owner/principal but that request was denied without explanation. Instead a very young woman called me defending their TeleCheck practice and she offered no apology for my billing experience.
If you visit Tufts Veterinary, bring cash or a credit card because the trust and respect that you give them (when you present your pet to Tufts for treatment) isn't returned by their billing people/department.

My poor Wheaten terrier, Dusty, became very sick with a grand mal seizure on 7/4/12. We brought her into Tufts Emergency and they treated her and kept her overnight. Subsequently, she came home but then required further emergency treatment and eventually, because of the seriousness of her illness and poor quality of her life, we had to put her down. The staff at Tufts were extraordinarily professional and compassionate to not only our dog but also to us, her family. Although I have heard in the past that it is extremely expensive to take a dog to Tufts, I found it very reasonable, especially with the amount of care and treatment Dusty received. We thank the staff of Tufts for the wonderful care their provided Dusty in her last hours on earth.

He was extraordinarily professional and knowledgeable. They are very good. They were really extraordinary. He did bacteriological tests on the skin whereas the local vets were not inclined to do that. He obviously knew exactly what he was doing and his instructions were very detailed. If there is a problem that doesn't seem to be getting better fairly quickly with dogs they are good to see because they were phenomenal. The price was reasonable for the work that they did. The punctuality was a little questionable because they were so thorough. I appreciated the attention and didn’t mind having to wait. I would absolutely use them again if I had another dog.

Everything went great, they were responsive and wonderful. Professional from beginning to end and clear communication as well. I would highly recommend their facility as well as their vets.

They were fantastic! They love animals and they did a great job with my dog. They had to run a bunch of tests and did an unbelievable job opening her up again. I think that they were one of the first places who did eye transplants on pets.
