I had John to come out to our home do an estimate on having a driveway extension from single car to a 2 car space (our current driveway is 11’ wide so we wanted to add another 9’. At first he missed the estimate date but contacted me after and showed up the following week or so. E-mail seems the best way to reach John. He was very professional and his price was reasonable so we decided to go with them. We also had them do our driveway probably 4-5 years ago and liked the job they did then so we wanted to consider them for doing an extension as well.
Like some other people have mentioned on here, they aren't always easy to get in touch with, so I can understand the frustrations some have faced. I wanted them to have the job so I made sure to follow up often. The first appointment they had to reschedule since the crew was running behind due to rain a couple days earlier. They showed up the following Monday to do the work. His brother Brian and crew showed up, very nice and professional. He mentioned remembering doing the driveway years back. They do have a big crew and they got to work immediately after meeting with him.
The work came out good, we’re very excited to now be able to have extra parking instead of parking in the mud. The job took them a few hours, they work fast! The only thing I noticed was that they never did the rounded edge at the end of the driveway like me and John talked about. Probably something I should have mentioned to his brother when he showed up but assumed he knew, not a big deal, is this an easy fix John? I’m also wondering the best approach to “blend” my existing driveway in with the new driveway extension. Overall I would hire them again, thank you O’Brien paving!
John and his crew where very professional. They suggested a few design changes for the driveway. They did my drivewayand play court. Once on the job they where there everyday to complete it. Very happy with the work and his crew.
We are very happy with our new driveway. I met with John about six weeks ago to go over the job (our initial meeting was last year, but we delayed work until this year, and needed to meet again to discuss a few changes). John scheduled a date to pave the driveway, but when the date came he was running behind due to rain/bad weather. His crew came over to rip up the driveway and his brother Brian led the job. The crew worked all day on a Saturday and returned the following Monday to complete the job--they worked very hard and finished everything the same day--we could not be happier with the new driveway and are grateful to Brian for all his hard work and diligence.
"[member name removed] I appreciate that very much. Let me know if you have any problems."
The new driveway is a huge improvement. But over the winter the driveway puddled in a couple of areas, including by the back gate. That resulted in big icy spots. The puddling has diminished in warmer weather. They also built up the driveway to get the right angle to direct the runoff away from the house, but the built-up area was so high that our old wooden fence posts were stuck in the asphalt. I wasn't told that was going to happen and left a message for John to ask about it. I never heard back.
I might use them again, but I'd be a bit more vigilant about supervising the job and asking about details like the fence ahead of time.
"the member did call asking about the height of the driveway. There was no other way to divert the water away from the house. I did stop over and look to see if there where any other problems. I did follow up with a call to the member but as I know now he didn't receive it. I've done 4 other driveways on his street since his install. I wish they approached me again. I always do my best to make things right. Thank you very much."
