This visit, I think, was complimentary, because there wasn't anything (to do) except reset the light. For all the things that apply they were actually the closet to us physically. When I stated doing business with them they were at the local service station, but it closed. Now when I go down and take my car down there the mechanic and I sit and chew the fat for 10 or 15 minutes not even about the repairs -- we are friends at this point. It has been a long relationship. I am retired so since we have two vehicles I usually call them and ask them when it would be most convenient -- there never is any real push for when I want to get scheduled. I have no problems because I am an old customer they take care of.
I was tolld to expect weaker braking until the new rear brakes broke in within 100 miles or so. He also said there was a vibration due to rust on the front brakes due to sitting unused over a week(?). Braking was OK, with no more fluiid leaks, but the front end vibration, not present before this repair work, is still severe after plenty of use to remove any rust. When I have time I will get this checked. Meanwhile braking is safe, but degraded due to the heavy vibration.
He also told me my serpentine belt needed replacement soon and that the engine oil pan was rusted and leaking. I appreciated knowing of these. I replaced the belt myself, and will soon replace the oil pan.
