Upholstering
I wish that someone had warned me about this guy ahead of time so I could have avoided him like the plague.
Originally, he said that he could upholster two sofa cushions for $350 in two weeks. After two weeks, I had to follow up with him -- and that was always the case, I was ALWAYS chasing him down -- only to find out that he had not even found a source for the material yet. Two more weeks went by, more delays, more excuses, he needed to be paid in advance so that his FRIEND could order the material with his credit card. He cashed my check. Then more excuses about the holiday weekend. I finally demanded that I get the cushions today, and I will be shocked if they are delivered. It has been five weeks and the cost is now up to $435 -- a 25 percent overage in cost and 150 percent overage on time.
Update: the cushions were delivered on Friday and the quality of the work is good, but it's not worth the effort of hounding someone for four weeks straight and hearing nothing but excuses, not knowing if the work will EVER get done.
Don't use Joe Tecce. Avoid him like the plague. He also sounds stoned all the time.
