The one negative aspect involved the cleaning. Taylor quoted a very high price for cleaning, up to $2000, for cleaning the interior of house plus the sill, which didn't make any sense to us since there wasn't going to be any work done inside the house. As a result, when the inspector came he said there was dust on the windowsill and it wouldn't pass and he called the worker to come back and clean the windowsill. It seemed a little ridiculous to us that the worker would scrape the windowsill and put a new one on but would not do 10 minutes of Windexing after to be sure that the area where he did the work was clean. In any event, he did come back and clean it at the inspector's behest, and there was no charge. But the inspector charged us $100 to come out twice. We passed the inspection so we are overall happy with everything.
They were very professional and always communicative. Additionally, they let us pick out/buy the exact door we wanted from Home Depot and they just went and picked it up.
Overall, it was a very good experience working with Northeast Remediation and I would highly recommend them to others.
While we did receive a number of quotes that were less than what we ended up paying (hence the B score), we decided to go with a more reputable company. We were happy with the choice.
We deleaded a 700 square foot apartment. We got 3 estimates for the work. NER was the most expensive by about 20%, but their work included painting, which the others did not, and they were far and away the most responsive and reliable.
We had a tight timeframe, and NER kept to it, which was critical. There were a few very small open items left after work was complete -- outlet cover left off, uninstalled blind -- and NER returned first thing the next morning and addressed all of them.
NER actually went above and beyond the SOW to ensure we passed inspection. They also fixed other issues as they worked -- adding more insulation around the windows, fixing a broken door hinge, etc. -- for no extra charge.
We were extremely happy with NER's work and would definitely recommend them.
NER was the third or fourth contractor who visited our home. From the moment we began working with NER it was clear that they understood the importance of de-leading while maintaining the character of an old home. In our home, there were old moldings, baseboards and doors that needed to be removed and replaced. NER promised to take the time to match the old moldings and baseboards and they delivered. NER ordered special closet doors to fit the tiny closet openings from our old home. The doors look great.
Albie Cail was our project manager. He searched high and low for hardware for the new doors that would match our old home. He did an excellent job. NER was on-time and on-budget from the initial consultation through the finished job. There were areas where NER did more than required to insure that the house looked great when finished. For example, on our exterior windows, they scraped the entire trim around the windows even though they are only required to go up to 5 or 6 feet to obtain lead compliance. They also did more interior painting than we had expected (we changed many old elements in the home that were a dark brown to a white which required several coats of paint -- they also painted many brown elements that did not require de-leading just so they would match the brown to white changeover).
We thought that the price was fair considering the scope of the work that needed to be done (not too high and not artificially low). NER was able to help us obtain financing for the project through a third-party lender. The cost included all replacement windows and doors, replacement moldings, etc. The closet doors ended up being special order items that cost more than NER expected. Nonetheless, NER stuck to its price. We knew that with our old home, there would be surprises. No matter what happened, NER stuck to its price and delivered. Any problems that arose were handled immediately and professionally. All calls and questions were answered promptly. The entire project took about 4 weeks.
"[removed member name], Thank you for your business. We are excited to hear you were happy with our services!"
My one complaint is that I did notice some painting of the trim that was slightly sloppy. I told Dave and he came back in person with his guys the next day to fix the areas we indicated. Also, the project took much longer than expected. I don't really blame them for this - there were some unforeseen circumstances that no one could control that led to delay, and some areas of the project just took longer than we thought. All in all, it was a very positive experience for us and we would very much recommend this company. Dave and his crew were also very respectful to our neighbors, which is important because we share a driveway and space is tight around the house.
other stair components, window casings, sills, stops, doorjambs, door casings, mantel, closet shelves and supports. Dip all doors off site then reinstall. Remove kitchen ceiling. Cut out positive wall corners then reinstall sheetrock, tape and mud paint ready. Stain all bare wood and paint outside wall corners after the reinspection. Clean by means of HEPA vacuuming and washing down with TSP to get ready for dust wipe samples.
Enviro-Tec was punctual, professional, and worked 6 days a week to get the project done. I couldn't have hired a better team of professionals to remove the lead paint from my home. I would highly recommend Enviro-Tec (and I do to anyone I speak to about the deleading of my home).
