JACK GOLINI ROOFING/ADMIRAL HOME IMPROVEMENTS

poorly. roof looks great but the chimney flashing leaked in the first storm. the owner refused to return the multiple messages left for him and i wad required to pay another roofer to repair a small issue with a small cost to repair as i didnt even request the drywall be fixed yet he couldnt be bothered to return calls after he cashed the check

He did what he said. There were no questions or discrepancies over anything. There wasn't a single nail or scrap in my yard after. The crew was very polite and friendly and they took me around the house when they were done to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. They also hand nail the shingles on.

We had a leak in summer home on the Cape in the area where an addition met the main house. Work I had done previously with another company appeared to be the cause. I called and got Jack Golini. He was very knowledgeable concerning the problem and agreed to travel down from Wakefield to repair it. The price was fair, and the work performed was excellent. I gave them a "B" for punctuality because they arrived a little late both days, but for me that wasn't a big deal. I would recommend them based on their experience in the area of roofing. The extra attention to doing the copper flashing properly solved the problem.

I wasn't really happy with the service, there is a small matter that needed to be taken care of and he didn't take care of it.  I didn't want to mess with him too much because he was in the middle of the project and who knows what else he would have done.  I had another quote that was a few hundred dollars more but I would have rather pay the extra to have the satisfaction and not the hassle.  He did get there on time but his personality put a damper on everything.

He did quality work, but I think he scammed me. He did not tell me that I was going to need new plywood until he had everything staged and ready to go. This was an oversight on his part. He tried to get me to pay an extra $4000 above and beyond the original estimate because he "suddenly discovered" I needed new plywood decking. I was trapped because he already had my deposit and everything was staged. We did settle for $2000, but this was, in my opinion, either a horrible oversight or he was trying to scam me.

THE ROOF LOOKS GREAT BUT THEY ALSO REROOFED THE FRONT PORCH THAT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE DONE AND THEY REALLY DID A TERRIBLE JOB OF CLEANING UP. NAILS WERE LEFT EVERYWHERE AND I AM STILL FINDING NAILS A FEW MONTHS LATER. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY DIDN'T RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE MESS THAT WAS LEFT.

JACK'S ESTIMATE WAS MID- RANGE. THE WORK WAS DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER, CLEAN, QUICK AND PROFESSIONAL. HOWEVER, THERE WERE SEVERAL IMPORTANT PROBLEMS. FIRST, WHEN I ASKED FOR A WARRANTY (AFTER WE HAD PAID THE FULL AMOUNT), HE SAID HIS WORD WAS GOOD ENOUGH AND THAT HE GUARANTEED THE ROOF FOR AS LONG AS HE WAS IN BUSINESS. (NOTHING WAS GIVEN TO ME IN WRITING.) SECOND, THE BACK PART OF A REAR GABLE (NOT VISIBLE FROM THE STREET, BUT VISIBLE FROM MY ATTIC WINDOW) SEEMED TO STILL HAVE THE OLD TILES. THIRD, A TILE WAS MISSING FROM THE FRONT OF THE ROOF THAT HAD NOT BEEN MISSING BEFORE HE BEGAN WORK. AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS, HE AGREED TO COME BY AND LOOK, BUT ON THE APPOINTED DAY (WHEN I ARRANGED TO BE HOME) HE DIDN'T SHOW. INSTEAD HIS CREW CAME UNANNOUNCED SUNDAY 8AM AND FIXED THE ONE TILE FOR WHICH WE RECEIVED A $400 BILL. WE DID NOT PAY AND SENT A LETTER EXPLAINING THE ABOVE. HE HAD NOT BEEN PRESENT DURING THE ORIGINAL WORK AND NEVER CHECKED ON THE WORK. WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN.

THE WORK DONE BY THE CREW WAS FINE (OWNER WAS NOT THERE). HE SAID THE ROOF THEY PUT ON CAME WITH A TWELVE YEAR WARRANTY. AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETE I ASKED FOR A WRITTEN COPY OF THE WARRANTY. HE SAID I NEEDED TO PAY IN FULL BEFORE HE WOULD GIVE IT TO ME. I FOOLISHLY PAID IN FULL AND HE SAID I WOULD RECEIVE IT IN THE MAIL IN 1-2 WEEKS. I NEVER RECEIVED IT AND HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM SINCE DESPITE REPEATED CALLS. I WOULD NOT USE HIM AGAIN, BUT IF YOU DO BE SURE TO GET A WARRANTY IN WRITING BEFORE YOU PAY.

JACK CAME OUT, PRICED THE JOB, CALLED BACK PROMPTLY AND DID THE WORK WITHIN TWO DAYS OF GIVING ME AN ESTIMATE. HE IS A FANTASTIC CONTRACTOR.

HE IS PROFESSIONAL AND ABLE TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY, WHERE I WAS NOT ABLE TO BE AT THE JOB SITE ALL THE TIME. HE KEPT TO HIS WORK SCHEDULE AND INFORMED US OF THE PROGRESS AS IT CAME ALONG.

GOLINI AND HIS CREW WERE GREAT. ALTHOUGH YOU HAVE TO BE A BIT PATIENT BECAUSE HE IS CLEARLY VERY BUSY, I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH HIS PROFESSIONALISM, HIS PRICE AND THE FINAL PRODUCT. GOLINI ONLY HAS ONE CREW AS OPPOSED TO OTHERS WHO HAVE MANY CREWS SO YOU CAN BE SURE THAT THIS RATING APPLIES TO THE ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO WILL BE WORKING ON YOUR HOUSE.

I CALLED JACK ON MAY 6, HE RETURNED MY CALL THAT NIGHT AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON MAY 8. HE TOLD ME HE COULD BEGIN WORK ON MAY 20 BUT WAS ACTUALLY ABLE TO START ON MAY 16. THE JOB WAS COMPLETED ON MAY 20. THE ESTIMATE WAS ACCURATE, THERE WERE NO HIDDEN COSTS AND THE ROOF LOOKS GREAT. JACK WENT UP ON THE ROOF HIMSELF AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETED TO MAKE SURE ALL WAS PERFECT. THE YARD WAS LEFT SPOTLESS. ALL IN ALL, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

JACK''S MEN WORKED VERY HARD AND ALWAYS LEFT THE JOB NEAT AND TIDY.
