J and J Movers quoted a great price. We booked them with less than a week to the move. The truck was on time!! It took a bit longer than originally expected to get everything out of the condo. But, given that there were three flights of stairs, which were narrow and had a lot of corners, I don't blame them! Moving everything into the new place was much quicker and run very smooth. They were prompt, courteous and very careful. NOTHING was damaged or broken.

I would definitely use J and J again... hopefully, not too soon!

I was told that a 26' truck would come at 9:00 am, I even confirmed it with them one day before the move. On the move day, they showed up at 10:15 am with a 16 ft Budget truck. The movers suggested I should have my move at another day or hire another mover with a bigger truck. I was a little disappointed by that attitude and told them it was too late for them to suggest that since I had the moving and vacating dates pre planned. Because of a smaller truck instead of making one trip we had to make two trips, hence taking us two and a half hour extra. They offered an extra 5% discount when I complained. Three movers showed up but only two were working. One guy, big one, was highly unprofessional, not moving at all, walking slow, not picking stuff up, hindering everything. I wish I had made a video of him wasting all that time. The other two movers were hard working, energetic, fast and they also kept complaining about the lazy guy and told me it's his first day at the job. If it were not for the two hard working guys, I would have given this an and quot;Fand quot; grade. I also tipped all three of them before the start just to make sure they are happy since it was a hot day, I guess it was a wasted tip for the lazy guy. I tipped the two hard working guys extra after the job was completed. Overall tip $100. For the next time I would like to go with someone more reliable.

I felt the price was good compared to others. Scheduling was fine. There were three movers here doing the work and it took about 4 or 5 hours to complete the move. They were very efficient once they got started. They couldn't start the truck since it was really cold which is why they were late to our appointment.

they were great and I was really happy to have found them through Angie's List. They didn't wreck anything. They were helpful and much less expensive. They were very friendly and helpful. The guys were good to work with and I would use them again. It was a little more than they had said it would be but I have found with mover's it is always that way.

As we all know, moving can be quite stressful. I contacted J and J Movers because they serviced both ME and MA. Jorge, the owner, has a very relaxed demeanor; which is the reason for my choice. He provided me with a quote and times available.
I contacted him the day before to confirm and he assured me that all was in order. The next day, the movers arrived on time, moved my items in the quoted time frame and were on their way.
I was so impressed with the service that I contacted them again when it was time for me to move my items from the storage facility to my new home. Again, the quoted time was right on the money.
I would strongly recommend J and J Movers to anyone looking for moving services in either ME or MA.

I made the arrangements for my elderly parents. The movers were professional, respectful, and very careful with everything. They called the evening before to say they would be coming later than originally scheduled, but it wasn't a problem. I found their pricing
to be better than other companies I checked with.

I contacted Jand J through email. They provided a quote - 3 hr minimum + $85 for the truck. We didn't need the full three hours since there wasn't much to move but agreed to hire them anyway.
3 guys showed up. They were prompt and courteous and got the job done in less than 2 hours. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but they did a good job.

The crew (3), lead by Derrick showed up on time and worked dilligently for the two hours I had paid for. The moved all furniture/matresses requested from my second floor to the container in the driveway. It was neatly arranged and set up the way I requested. They also had time to move 20 large contractor bags of toys and miscelaneous other items, as well as wrap and move all of my dining room chairs (8), a hutch, small table, tv stand and matress from my first floor. I had purchased protective pads and dust covers for most of my furniture, which they used to cover/wrap the delicate pieces, but I believe they also sell the supplies you may need too.
I plan to have them back to more all of my furniture from the container into my home when renovations are complete.
I was very impressed with their work and the speed at which they moved everything. I was able to get a lot more furniture moved in 2 hours than I was expecting.

The move was a dreadful experience from which we are still recovering. Before I get into the details, I would like to say that the moving crew themselves were great -- Derrick, Luis, and Ron were all hardworking and courteous. But the move was incredibly badly managed by Jand J, from beginning to end. I had used Jand J last year to move some furniture from storage, and because that was a positive experience, I decided to hire them again. I sent Jand J an itemized list of things that had to be moved, and also explained that there were stairs at both ends of the move, which was from Beverly to Swampscott, MA. I received a bid of under $1000. The move ended up costing me over $3700, and with the exception of two beds, there was no furniture setup at the end. We went to put together our dining table three days ago and found that all the antique hardware to attach the legs to the table is missing ... and Jand J has yet to respond to my phone messages about this.
The move was supposed to occur on Thursday, May 30. The day was very hot, and it was very wearing on the movers to be moving heavy boxes up and down stairs. They only had three guys, so it wasn't as efficient as it could have been. They asked if it would be okay to continue the move the next day because they were suffering from the heat. I agreed. They promised to be back the next day, Friday, at around noon. They didn't show up, and no one contacted me from Jand J until 6:30 p.m., in response to my voicemail to them, promising that they and quot;were comingand quot;. At 7:30 p.m., I received another call from Derrick, telling me they would be there at 8:30 p.m. (they were finishing another move). I asked him how they were going to accomplish the move, starting at 8:30 p.m.? When it became apparent that they were talking about moving in the middle of the night, I said and quot;noand quot; because of the neighbor uproar it would cause at both ends. They said they were booked on Saturday, but how about Sunday? I reluctantly agreed and they arrived at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Again, only three guys, and the truck was not sufficiently large to handle the move. They had to make two trips, which meant I paid for travel time, and even so, my handicapped 64-year-old boyfriend and I (60) had to handle the overflow in our car -- with my bad back, both of us suffered moving heavy items to our car by ourselves. They finished the move at 5:30 a.m.!! I collapsed before they finished. The whole experience was awful and costly, and I would NEVER hire them again! And I still can't put my dining table together.
Response from J & J Movers
"We have already mailed items to her. No refund is warranted." "I would like to request that this item not be shown on our reviews. She is grossly misrepresenting what her move was like and if you follow our years of reviews you will see that we are a strong reputable company and we bend over backwards to help moves go smoothly. As for her move, she changed the specs on moving day, to the point where we sent 2 extra men to help - 5 total. She is correct that it was over 90 degrees, but that did not stop our guys. They worked tirelessly to get her to her new home. She was completely aware of the hourly rate and knew that if she kept them there until 5AM working (which she did) she would need to pay for it. Our costs are straightforward and I truly do not understand why she expected these men to work for days for free. She paid at the end of each day and asked them to return. She complimented their work ethic. After the move we returned her phone call, her email, and are responding at this time to AL. The hardware was located and returned. Although she was upset that it was not hand delivered, I felt it best to mail it USPS because she is argumentative and I want to remain professional."

George gave me an estimate that was fairly close to what the final charges were.
The move went extremely smooth, stress-free with no damage and very punctual. The crew consisted of Derek, Aaron, Luis, and Jose, all very polite and helpful. They definitely were experienced and worked well together. They loaded the 2 trucks, stored them overnight and delivered and off loaded the next day. Although I was really stressed, they made the move a pleasant experience and I will definitely use them again without hesitation.

I had an excellent experience with J and J Movers and would highly recommend them. We moved our office to a new location and was concerned about our IT equipment being damaged. I shopped around and received quotes from other companies- Gentle Giant, Spry Moving to name a few, and ultimately chose J and J because of the price and courtesy of the man who came out for the original quote. Their price was significantly less, and so was the insurance I purchase because of our equipment. The new office space was difficult for them because of the location and layout (3 floors), but nothing was damaged. The movers were prompt, courteous and efficient. They tolerated our indecisiveness when directing the location of items. I was extremely nervous about the whole ordeal, but had such a great experience and have nothing but great things to say about them.

Well, things started well with a prompt solid estimate and then the delivery a couple wardrobe boxes to help out just a couple days before the move started. When the movers showed up on time, I was psyched but also a little concerned that the truck would be too small. But figuring that the moving company that gave me an in-home estimate and saw all my things would know better than me, I kept my mouth shut.
Movers were pleasant personalities and worked fast and well together.
About 3 hours in, it was becoming very apparent the truck was too small. So my wife and I had to rush over to a Uhaul and rent another truck. The movers were nice enough to load that one too, but this was obviously an unnecessary expense and inconvenience.
In another case of and quot;maybe I should've said something but I figured the movers would know better than Iand quot; -- upon unloading the things, several pieces of word furniture -- which had survived more than 40 years of existence without getting a nick, were scratched up in the truck. I was surprised to see the movers not wrapping the individual wood pieces in blankets to prevent such scratches but figured they knew what they were doing and wasn't about to tell the pros what to do.
One thing that was broken, the driver was able to fix with tools he brought. Movers were also able to get a tight-fitting refrigerator out of the old house and into a new basement.
In the end, I was able to get 1 hour of service as well as a couple fees taken off the bill. While the drivers were friendly and helpful, I would've rather had my things not get scratched and had everything fit on one big truck.
I went with JJ because their estimate was lowest. With the add-ons (extra hours beyond the estimate), they were still cheaper ... but their quality of work was probably proportionally below the other companies I received estimates from ... although you never know.

They called ahead and showed up just about on-time. First they did a walk-through to survey the items to be loaded and then proceeded to load truck to capacity in about 4 hours (I had done all packing and disassembling of furniture). I did have one large bookcase headboard for queen bed that was very difficult to fit through turns in stairway (had friends move this piece in originally and I know it was a very tight fit)- this took them about 20-25 minutes but they managed with minimal damage (just a small piece of wood in back that can not be seen and not really important to the structure). Everything else went smoothly and the unloading went very fast, total time about 5.5 hours. They charged for exact time rather than a full 6 hours (usual practice is not to pro-rate for partial hours), acknowledging slight damage to headboard. All in all they worked extremely hard (I also included a tip)and the price was well worth it and better than similar pricing from other companies on one of the busiest days of the year.
