J and J Movers quoted a great price. We booked them with less than a week to the move. The truck was on time!! It took a bit longer than originally expected to get everything out of the condo. But, given that there were three flights of stairs, which were narrow and had a lot of corners, I don't blame them! Moving everything into the new place was much quicker and run very smooth. They were prompt, courteous and very careful. NOTHING was damaged or broken.
I would definitely use J and J again... hopefully, not too soon!
I contacted him the day before to confirm and he assured me that all was in order. The next day, the movers arrived on time, moved my items in the quoted time frame and were on their way.
I was so impressed with the service that I contacted them again when it was time for me to move my items from the storage facility to my new home. Again, the quoted time was right on the money.
I would strongly recommend J and J Movers to anyone looking for moving services in either ME or MA.
to be better than other companies I checked with.

The movers arrived late, but they did call to say they were running late. Worked very hard. Very Polite. Good guys.
3 guys showed up. They were prompt and courteous and got the job done in less than 2 hours. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but they did a good job.
I plan to have them back to more all of my furniture from the container into my home when renovations are complete.
I was very impressed with their work and the speed at which they moved everything. I was able to get a lot more furniture moved in 2 hours than I was expecting.
The move was supposed to occur on Thursday, May 30. The day was very hot, and it was very wearing on the movers to be moving heavy boxes up and down stairs. They only had three guys, so it wasn't as efficient as it could have been. They asked if it would be okay to continue the move the next day because they were suffering from the heat. I agreed. They promised to be back the next day, Friday, at around noon. They didn't show up, and no one contacted me from Jand J until 6:30 p.m., in response to my voicemail to them, promising that they and quot;were comingand quot;. At 7:30 p.m., I received another call from Derrick, telling me they would be there at 8:30 p.m. (they were finishing another move). I asked him how they were going to accomplish the move, starting at 8:30 p.m.? When it became apparent that they were talking about moving in the middle of the night, I said and quot;noand quot; because of the neighbor uproar it would cause at both ends. They said they were booked on Saturday, but how about Sunday? I reluctantly agreed and they arrived at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Again, only three guys, and the truck was not sufficiently large to handle the move. They had to make two trips, which meant I paid for travel time, and even so, my handicapped 64-year-old boyfriend and I (60) had to handle the overflow in our car -- with my bad back, both of us suffered moving heavy items to our car by ourselves. They finished the move at 5:30 a.m.!! I collapsed before they finished. The whole experience was awful and costly, and I would NEVER hire them again! And I still can't put my dining table together.
"We have already mailed items to her. No refund is warranted." "I would like to request that this item not be shown on our reviews. She is grossly misrepresenting what her move was like and if you follow our years of reviews you will see that we are a strong reputable company and we bend over backwards to help moves go smoothly. As for her move, she changed the specs on moving day, to the point where we sent 2 extra men to help - 5 total. She is correct that it was over 90 degrees, but that did not stop our guys. They worked tirelessly to get her to her new home. She was completely aware of the hourly rate and knew that if she kept them there until 5AM working (which she did) she would need to pay for it. Our costs are straightforward and I truly do not understand why she expected these men to work for days for free. She paid at the end of each day and asked them to return. She complimented their work ethic. After the move we returned her phone call, her email, and are responding at this time to AL. The hardware was located and returned. Although she was upset that it was not hand delivered, I felt it best to mail it USPS because she is argumentative and I want to remain professional."
The move went extremely smooth, stress-free with no damage and very punctual. The crew consisted of Derek, Aaron, Luis, and Jose, all very polite and helpful. They definitely were experienced and worked well together. They loaded the 2 trucks, stored them overnight and delivered and off loaded the next day. Although I was really stressed, they made the move a pleasant experience and I will definitely use them again without hesitation.
Movers were pleasant personalities and worked fast and well together.
About 3 hours in, it was becoming very apparent the truck was too small. So my wife and I had to rush over to a Uhaul and rent another truck. The movers were nice enough to load that one too, but this was obviously an unnecessary expense and inconvenience.
In another case of and quot;maybe I should've said something but I figured the movers would know better than Iand quot; -- upon unloading the things, several pieces of word furniture -- which had survived more than 40 years of existence without getting a nick, were scratched up in the truck. I was surprised to see the movers not wrapping the individual wood pieces in blankets to prevent such scratches but figured they knew what they were doing and wasn't about to tell the pros what to do.
One thing that was broken, the driver was able to fix with tools he brought. Movers were also able to get a tight-fitting refrigerator out of the old house and into a new basement.
In the end, I was able to get 1 hour of service as well as a couple fees taken off the bill. While the drivers were friendly and helpful, I would've rather had my things not get scratched and had everything fit on one big truck.
I went with JJ because their estimate was lowest. With the add-ons (extra hours beyond the estimate), they were still cheaper ... but their quality of work was probably proportionally below the other companies I received estimates from ... although you never know.
