Basil arrived on time and ready to work. He was fast, efficient and left each work area just as he found it. Will I call him again? Yes, I already have. As busy as he was, he managed to squeeze my light fixture installation request the same day. He is fantastic and I would recommend him.

I would recommend him to anyone because when we first moved in my boyfriend and I worked full-time and we gave him a key to our house. He would come in our house and we were able to trust him. Nothing ever went missing or anything like that. He was very good. He'd lock up at the end of the day. He was very responsible. We were pleased with all of the work that he did.

We contacted Basil due to the positive reviews we saw on Angie's List. He returned our call promptly and gave an estimate over the phone for wiring the house fan and installing the light fixture. We scheduled the job and he showed up promptly, calling ahead to let us know when he would be arriving at the house. Basil was friendly and polite, and completed the work quickly. It turns out he had also done some work for our neighbor and they also highly recommended him. We are pleased with the quality and the price, and would definitely use Basil again.

Basil came over and estimated the work. He came up with some suggestions to make the job simpler and less expensive.

The next week he came over as scheduled. He is very professional and moved from task to task efficiently. He took the time to answer my questions and called me in to make decisions when he had multiple choices when splitting circuits. He was a pleasure to work with. With all the projects, he was over for about 7 hours.

I have a few more projects in mind for the future and I'll be sure to call Basil when I do!

Basil Costa first did work for us in 2010, when he replaced a large number of old fluorescent fixtures for us. We also ordered (from an online company) new porch and exterior lights. He installed the first two of these, but the second set were delayed for 5 months (and that was NOT his problem at all). We had to wait until spring (when the snow was gone!) to finish the installation, and he did that today. His communication was great. His workmanship is outstanding. His professionalism is top-notch. I referred him to a friend, and she was equally delighted with his work. His pricing is more than reasonable: if there was a way to save us money without hurting quality, he found it. What more could anyone ask for?

He was great. He got it done in the time allotted and didn't nickel and dime me. He showed up on time and was as unobtrusive as possible.

I consider myself an amateur electrician (I can confidently add a new outlet, change a switch, etc.). For everything out of the ordinary, I get help. Working with Basil was very pleasant. He has a very non-confrontational personality. He patiently listened to my lofty plans and ideas regarding the situation, then offered insight based on experience. He is very practical and pragmatic… he is not the type to take advantage of a situation or up-sell. In fact, he talked me out of several ideas that would have cost more money. In some areas of esthetics I insisted on the more time-consuming approach… Basil was happy to do as I wanted, whether it was following his suggestions or not. During this job, we ran into challenges of how to best rearrange circuits, the discovery of squirrel damaged wiring, and some old knob and tube wiring too. Each problem was dealt with professionally and calmly. No cursing or frustration, at least not from Basil. In the end, everything was done, and working, within the expected time frame I've hired a lot of contractors in the past 4 years for my "new" 150-year-old house, and I've seen all sorts of workman speeds: from literally running around, to barely moving and looking for another reason to drag out a chatty conversation. Basil fits towards the faster end. He doesn't run, and he's a friendly guy to talk with, but he quickly reaches a point when he wants to get the job done. I think it's a nice balance. Probably because he is a solo operation, his hourly rate was 15% less than the bigger company I had previously hired (who were also good). I like dealing with the boss and worker at the same time. For me, I think it's usually better than meeting with a bigger company's representative only to have some rookies show up to do the job, (even though I've never had a problem with the work of any rep+rookie outfit either). Basil is normally contacted via his home number, which means you can't reach him during the day, but he has always returned my call that evening, or worst-case the next morning (with apologies). His availability to do the work is sometimes tight, but when he makes a date, he keeps it. I had hired Basil one time earlier. That job went well too.

Basils work is extraordinary. He went out of his way to work with inspectors and carpenters, he is professional, courteous, an excellent electrician. He also rewired the basement and installed lighting throughout my home. A rare breed.
