The first thing that annoyed me was that the person who came out and measured told me he could do the backsplash over our island without a problem. When the installer showed up he said he could not do it because the piece was too small and it would crack. I feel like I had to persuade him to try it or he was just going to tell me it was going to crack and forget about it. I had to convince him that the granite was here, I already paid for it, I already paid you to install it, just give it a try and if it cracks it cracks. He reluctantly gave it a try and ended up doing a good clean cut without cracking it and now I have my back splash.
After installation I noticed small cracks all over the stone which turns out to be what are called Fissures. I, who has never purchased granite before had no idea what a fissure was until I did some research after the countertops were installed. I found out that the stone we chose is known to contained large amounts of these cracks. I will take some blame on this one because maybe I should have done more research on how to pick out granite and what to look for prior to purchasing but I also think the salesman should have mentioned that the stone we chose was notorious for fissures. I can also almost guaranty that the slab we picked out at the yard is not the one we ended up getting so driving out to ?choose our slab? was a giant waste of time.
These may all be little things that could have been better but the one thing that really got me aggravated was that they did not shim the countertops at all. Like most houses my floors are not completely level, my cabinets were shimmed but still not perfect. There was two foot section of countertop that was cantilevered not being supported by anything and another 1 foot section not supported on the island which would squeak when you leaned on it. I understand the cabinets not being completely level is not their fault but If I pay someone to install countertops I should not be the one going under the cabinets cutting and placing shims to make sure the countertops were supported correctly.
Lastly we paid $50 for the sink cut out to be made into a cutting board, he said he was very busy and backed up but it has been over two months and still have not received it. I understand they are giving cheap deals so they are looking to cut corners were they can in order to make money and for the price I was not expecting top notch countertops however I feel small improvements
that won?t cost them much (or anything) would improve their customers experience.
went to shop to pick color, rep came over to measure, scheduled install day with owner, crew actually came early and finished in less time than expected. Great crew of installers. Had a question for owner after installed and emailed right back.
Once the installation was scheduled, the guys arrived on time and did a quick and clean job installing. Moreover, because of the delay, Fabio sent out the installers to put in a granite window which we wanted at no additional charge to us.
We were very satisfied by the installation and quality of the work. Fabio was very easy to work with and very honest and straightforward. It is a family business and we found Fabio to take pride in his work and strive for customer satisfaction.
Normally, my husband and I are "do it ourselvers" as we have had some less than satisfying experiences with hiring professionals in the
past, but obviously installing granite ourselves was not an option! Working with Alpha Granite was a positive experience throughout. Thank you Alpha Granite.
Everything went great, our new countertops look outstanding!
We worked with Fabio, the owner, to obtain estimate and then to select stone.
The turn time to manufacture the counters + install was probably a few weeks.
The installers came as planned (yesterday), the counter tops were installed without any issues and they look amazing!...Perfect job!
Also, when finished, the installers cleaned up - sweeping and vacuuming. I offered to deal with it but they insisted on leaving the house as they found it.
I would also note, their price was very competitive.
I would not hesitate to hire this company to do this type of work, their large amount of positive ratings speaks for itself.
Thank you Alpha Granite for a job well done!
The price was very reasonable too. Install date was fixed and the guys came in and installed. No issues at all. I would recommend them to anyone looking to get granite for their counter top.
Also not sure if this is standard but they let the dishwasher loose (no side mount brackets) and did not c*** over the backsplash. My walls were crooked creating gaps. We needed to do the painting / finish against wall anyway since the removal peeled some old paint off the walls. It would have been nice if they did the cocking instead of leaving for me or the "painter". Its the small customer service details that make the difference some times. He was more than fair with his price so overall I can not complain.
Overall pleased with our counters and install / service - definitely recommend and would use again.
Alpha Granite were incredibly professional, punctual and granite was high quality. They did a great job with the installation and I would easily recommend them again.
They gave us the warehouse information so we could go and choose our slab. You can only tag the top slab of the material you want so even though you are "tagging" the piece you want you get what you get & hope the installer cuts the counter out of the best part of the slab. We chose Premium Black which was an upgrade from the choices that were given in the deal which cost us about $500.00 extra. The counter was beautiful but has a few foggy variations in the color which is more noticeable because the piece is solid black. This is likely just the way the stone looks naturally and is probably only really noticeable to me because I look at them every day, but thought it should be mentioned.
On the whole, we are happy with our new counters, but for people who know very little about granite, we felt somewhat confused throughout and hoped for the best.
