What an enjoyable experience! Tom came recommended for us by our Realtor. So I gave him a call and he came to take a look at the house the following weekend. Tom was always quick to return phone calls and was very easy to set up a date and time to have the work begun. He came out on two separate days as we had quite a bit to be done. Tom showed up early on both days which was nice. He was very friendly and easy to communicate with from the get go. He was more than happy to explain what he was doing as he was doing the work and pointed out exactly what he was going to do before he started doing any work also. For the work we had done the switching out the old outlets to new GFCI outlets were very easy as was changing the existing light switches to new ones. It only took Tom about 90 minutes to do all four rooms and the 15 switches/outlets. The office light and hallway switch were both a bit more complicated and took up the majority of the time spent doing the work. The office ceiling light required gaining access through the floor on the second floor. Thankfully we have overhang access under the roof and that made accessing the first floor ceiling less of a hassle. Tom did fantastic job of centering the light on the ceiling and making it look like the light was always there in the first place. The hallway light switch at the top of the steps was much more difficult to install than either of us anticipated. Due to how thin the hallway walls are and the configuration of the steps the wiring for the switch required the wire going out of the house at the basement, then up underneath the siding of the house, and then back into the house and up the hallway wall. For a little while there I was worried it wouldn't be able to be done but Tom pulled it off for us. After all the work was done Tom cleaned everything up and you'd never know he did any work to begin with. All said and done after the work and cleanup it took Tom about 6 hours total to finish all the work. My wife and I are very happy with the work he did for us and in the future he will be our go to electrician for an further electrical work we need to have done.
Description of Work: My wife and I recently purchased a 1950's Cape style Home and due to the age of the wiring in the house we had GFCI outlets installed in every room and replaced several old light switches. There are no ceiling lights in any of our rooms except for the kitchen and bathroom so we had ceiling lights installed in our office room and in the front entry way of the house. In our side entryway there is a light that only has a switch at the bottom of the steps. Which is great when you're coming into the house but not so great when you need to go down the steps first before you can actually turn the light on. We also had a large clunky ceiling fan in the kitchen removed and replaced it with a much nicer fixture.
